Netherlands vs Germany predictions and betting tips for Sunday’s exciting Euro 2020 qualifier. The feeling around both these giants of international football could not be further apart going into the biggest match up in the qualifying round.
These two sides have played a lot recently after being drawn in the same group of the Euro Nations League. A group in which the Dutch topped and the Germans finished bottom of. Ronald Koeman has created a great atmosphere in Holland with his team full of young players with a lot of potential, lead by one of the best players in the world at the moment, Virgil van Dijk.
The same however cannot be said for Germany who seem to be on a never ending downward spiral. After being eliminated at the group stage in the World Cup, then getting relegated from the Euro Nations League Division A, it has been a tough time for the Germans. Under pressure manager Joachim Löw has taken a very brave step in forcing three of their 2014 World Cup heroes to retire from international football. Therefore, we will not be seeing Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng or Mats Hummels in a German shirt again.
When these two met in the UEFA Nations league in 2018, there were a total of seven goals in the two games. Therefore, we are expecting there to be goals. For Germany, they will be looking to young guns Leroy Sané and Timo Werner to put the goals away for them on Sunday. However, when it comes to the Netherlands playing at home, it is hard to look past the man who leads the Dutch line in Memphis Depay. After scoring five in his last five games for Holland and also scoring two midweek against Belarus, I believe the ex Manchester United striker is an absolute banker to hit the back of the net, making him my goalscorer prediction for this game. You can get Depay to score any time at 13/8.
Everything that has happened in the build up to this game points to a Netherlands win. Especially in both team’s respective midweek games in which Holland won 4-0 against Belarus and Germany drew 1-1 at home to Serbia. As mentioned in my goalscorer prediction, this game will have a lot of goals. Even though it is very hard to write of Germany completely, I just can’t see them getting a result, especially in Amsterdam. Therefore, I am predicting a 3-1 victory for the Dutch here and you can get that at 16/1.
