Accrington vs Derby County predictions and betting tips for this fourth round FA Cup fixture on Saturday 26th January with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.
Accrington beat Championship strugglers Ipswich in the previous round of the competition and were responsible for a minor upset. They’ve been drawn against Championship opposition once again in the fourth round but this looks significantly tougher for John Coleman’s men. Stanley are always willing to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in but they sometimes lack a little quality. Will they be able to make Derby feel uncomfortable at the Wham Stadium? See our Accrington vs Derby County predictions below.
The Rams needed extra time and penalties to make it through to the fourth round of the competition and Frank Lampard’s men will be confident of progressing against League One opposition. Earlier in the season, this would have had all of the makings of a cup upset but Accrington’s form has nosedived of late and they are struggling for goals. Accy are in danger of freefalling into the relegation zone in League One but this will be a welcome distraction for the Lancashire club. They’ve won just twice since mid-October and they could struggle against a lively Derby side who are scoring plenty of goals. Lampard’s men weren’t at their fluent best last weekend but they managed to see off a rejuvinated Reading side. Although Accrington are capable of a top-class performance, I don’t forsee a shock in this FA Cup game.
The first of our Accrington vs Derby betting tips is Derby to Win and they can be backed at a decent price of 10/11 for this one.
Martyn Waghorn is a player who isn’t always a guaranteed starter and he has to compete with a number of talented strikers at the club. The former Ipswich man has performed well whenever he’s been given the nod and he netted in the last round. In fact, three of his five goals this season have come in cup competitions and he’s becoming a bit of a specialist are scoring in knock-out events.
He could also be on penalty duty here and he should find plenty of joy amongst the Accrington back-line. Always check team news before placing an anytime goalscorer bet but I would suggest that Martyn Waghorn will get a few minutes under his belt here.
Martyn Waghorn is the second of our Accrington vs Derby predictions for Saturday lunchtime.
Accrington defended well for long periods of the game against Charlton last weekend but they weren’t able to deny the Addicks a last minute penalty. With changes expected to the Derby squad, they potentially find it difficult to break down this dogged Accrington defence. The Rams are often involved in high-scoring games but with Accrington’s recent lack of prowess in the final third, their defence may not be overly exerted here.
Outside of their 1-0 victory over Ipswich, Accrington haven’t found the net since Boxing Day and have netted just seven times in eleven League One games. I don’t expect a high-scoring encounter at the Wham Stadium.
Under 2.5 Goals is priced at 9/10 and is the third of our Accrington vs Derby County Predictions.
Derby are priced at 17/20 to progress to the next round inside 90 minutes and they will be extremely popular with punters. The draw is available at 5/2 whilst it’s 16/5 for a cup upset here. Accrington will be gunning for their second successive Championship scalp.
It’s 4/5 for Both Teams to Score? Yes.
Jack Marriott has adapted to life at Pride Park with aplomb and he netted in the last round of the competition. He is the 4/1 favourite to score the opening goal of the game here. David Nugent, who may be given another run out in this competition is priced at 11/2 to break the deadlock. Billy Kee was the hero of the last round and he is 6/1 to score the first goal of the game for the second successive FA Cup game.
