In normal times, this selection would be an unusual one. However, these are not normal times for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, who currently sit in ninth position in the Premier League table, three points behind their opponents Brighton who occupy sixth place in the table. The Reds have failed to win in each of their last three Premier League fixtures, and despite winning an FA Cup fixture in that time, it took them a replay to overcome Wolves. They’re certainly not in a fine run of form, and Brighton defeated Liverpool 3-0 just two weeks ago. The Seagulls are unbeaten in their last four fixtures, and I think they’ll progress through this one against Liverpool.

 

Both teams to score

Despite thinking Brighton will reign victorious in this one, I’m expecting a good game and think it will be end to end. In five of Brighton’s last six matches in all competitions, both teams have scored, with four of those games having at least four goals. For Liverpool, both teams have scored in eight of their last nine competitive fixtures. I expect a fast paced encounter in this one and think this selection will land comfortably.

 

Alexis Mac Allister to be booked

Alexis Mac Allister will still be relishing the glory of being a World Cup winner, following his successful campaign with Argentina at the tail end of last year. He has returned to Brighton and continued to play fairly well. However, he has picked up a number of bookings this season, and I think he’s got a good chance of picking up another in this one. The midfielder has received five yellows in the Premier League this season, and is coming up against a physical Liverpool midfield. I expect him to make a number of fouls here and think this selection has a strong chance.
