Bury v Hull betting preview and predictions for this weekend’s FA Cup fourth round fixture and the best betting tips from our tipster.
Championship leaders Hull travel to Greater Manchester to face Bury in the FA Cup 4th round and we’ve picked out the best bets for the match.
Hull City have the momentum in the Championship promotion race after rivals Middlesbrough and Derby have both stuttered of late. There’s a possibility Steve Bruce will see this game as a bit of a distraction though and will be concerned about picking up unwanted injuries. They do have a good record in this competition of course and they will see out-of-form Bury as an ideal opportunity to progress.
Despite their indifferent league form, Bury have enjoyed the FA Cup this season with victories over Rochdale, Wigan and Bradford (through a replay with ten men) and they will be confident they can give Hull a good game.
They currently sit 12th in the table after collecting four points from their last two games to put a run of four straight defeats behind them. One issue they need to focus on is scoring with just five goals in their last eight games in the league. They failed to net past Crewe, who have conceded 40 goals this season on Tuesday night.
Manager David Flitcroft has paid tribute to his opposite number Steve Bruce and his assistant Mike Phealan. But, it will be tough to outwit the former Sunderland boss.
It’s just a single goal conceded in five matches for the Tigers and they are back to their defensive best.
Hull City don’t have many injuries to worry about currently, so they can afford to rotate for this one. They have a large squad with plenty of depth. Tom Huddlestone, Sone Aluko and Shaun Maloney all started on the bench on Saturday against Fulham and could start against the League One side.
They made seven changes in their 3rd round victory over Brighton and Steve Bruce is likely to freshen up his side once more.
Bury will be relishing this tie and it’ll give them fresh hope if Hull do decide to put out a weakened team. I still think it’ll be difficult for them though, given their recent form.
Although this is the FA Cup and anything can happen, I can’t see past the Championship side here for my FA Cup predictions. Their squad depth is too great and they have been extremely tight at the back recently.
My first FA Cup betting tip for Bury v Hull is for Hull to win at Evens with Betfred.

Hull may field a weakened team and they may change round the defence that has held so firm recently, but I fancy them to remain tough to break down here. Also, Bury have kept two clean sheets in a row now and they have only had two of their last eight games feature three or more goals. This one may be settled by a single goal.
My second Bury v Hull City betting tip is Under 2.5 goals. It’s 4/6 with Betfred.
It’s always hard to pick out a goalscorer in these clashes until you see team news. But, I’m looking at the players who didn’t make a start at the weekend and Shaun Maloney is always good value to grab a goal. He’s already got off the mark for Hull and I think he may find a way through the Bury defence.
My third Bury v Hull City prediction is for Shaun Maloney to score anytime. He can be backed at 3/1 with Stan James.
