Lincoln City vs Brighton Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Lincoln vs Brighton betting tips and predictions for the FA Cup fixture on Saturday 28th January at Sincil Bank Stadium

After beating Ipswich via a replay in FA Cup round three, National League team Lincoln now host Championship leaders Brighton in a fourth-round tie, although the teams suffered contrasting fortunes in midweek.

Ahead of this FA Cup tie, Lincoln suffered a surprise 3-0 midweek defeat at Barrow in league action, yet they may have been distracted by this impending match. The Imps currently lead the National League and are unbeaten in nine home matches with five successive league victories earned at Sincil Bank including the 2-1 defeat of second placed Tranmere Rovers last month. Brighton regained the lead of the Championship table in midweek when beating Cardiff 1-0 at the Amex Stadium and they have lost just once since mid-September which includes seven victories on their travels.

Lincoln vs Brighton Predictions

It is likely that Brighton manager Chris Hughton could rest one or two regular first team players for this clash, but the Seagulls still possess a formidable squad. Although Lincoln did beat Ipswich in the previous round, promotion from the National League remains their priority and anything achieved from this tie will be a bonus. The Seagulls are likely to prove more difficult opposition than Ipswich and my first Lincoln vs Brighton prediction is for an away victory.

First Goalscorer Tip

Glenn Murray was suspended for the Brighton victory against Cardiff and has failed to find the net during 2017, but he netted nine league goals from late October onwards last year and could start this match. My second Lincoln vs Brighton betting tip is for Murray to score the first goal in this game.

Glenn Murray to be first goalscorer – 7/2 : BET HERE.

Although Brighton have conceded at least once in their latest four away matches, just one game involving the team since the beginning of November has featured more than three goals. Lincoln may struggle to score goals against a fairly resolute defence and so my third Lincoln vs Brighton tip is for a range of 2-3 goals to be scored.

2-3 goals to be scored in the game – 21/20 : BET HERE.

Lincoln vs Brighton Team News

Sam Habergham (knock) may be an injury absentee for Lincoln although there could be a few changes in personnel due to the congested fixture list facing the Imps.

Gaetan Bong (knee), Sam Baldock (calf) and Bruno (groin) are injury concerns at Brighton while Liam Rosenior (ankle) is regaining fitness after a lengthy absence. Fikayo Tomori could be involved after recently joining the club from Chelsea in a loan deal, and Glenn Murray will be available after completing a one-game suspension.

Lincoln vs Brighton Head to Head

In the last meeting between these two teams, Lincoln beat Brighton 3-1 in an FA Cup First Round tie during November 2003. There were several games in the old League Division 3 from October 1996 to April 2001 with Lincoln winning three of their four home matches and Brighton clinching a 3-1 victory at Sincil Bank in March 2000.

Lincoln vs Brighton Betting Odds

Brighton have been installed as favourites for this tie at prices ranging from 3/4 to 4/6 with Lincoln offered at between 7/2 to 4/1 to win. A draw is generally quoted at 11/4.
