Norwich vs Southampton predictions and FA Cup betting tips for the third round including the odds for a potential upset and an anytime goalscorer tip.
Claude Puel will take his struggling Southampton side to Carrow Road on Saturday for an FA Cup 3rd round tie against Norwich. Here are some tips and predictions for the game.
Norwich City were expected to challenge promotion favourites Newcastle United for the Championship title at the start of the season but recent results have pushed them down to ninth in the table and it looks as if the best they can hope for is a play-off place. However, they have picked up four points in their last two games and in their last match they beat Derby 3-0 which is an impressive result and may indicate that they are turning a corner. They also have a striker who is bag in form in Nelson Oliveira and the Portuguese striker has scored five goals in his last five games and will fancy his chances again on Saturday.
After a bright start things are starting to get to Saints manager Claude Puel and they are struggling for form at the moment. They come into this match after three successive defeats in the Premier League and the French manager has been critical of the English schedule after those defeats come all in the space of six days. They are still in the top ten of the Premier League and have an EFL cup semi-final against Liverpool to look forward to next week so it’s not all bad for the south coast team. This could be a potentially tricky tie for them though considering the amount of football that they have played and I’m sure that the manager will have one eye on the semi-final against Liverpool next week and this could open the door for a potential FA cup shock.
My first Norwich vs Southampton prediction is going to be for the match to end in a draw or a Norwich win. I think that Southampton will rest players with a League Cup semi-final on the horizon and I don’t expect that many changes for the home side. Norwich have also won three of their last four games and defeated Southampton at home last season so everything points to a tricky afternoon for the away side. The only thing that is putting me of the home win is the fact that Norwich have been knocked out of the FA cup at the 3rd round stage in the past three seasons so I’m playing it safe and going Norwich/Draw and this is 3/4 at Bet365.
My second Norwich vs Southampton betting tip is going to be for Nelson Oliveira to score at any time and considering the form he is in I can’t quite believe the odds. He is 13/5 to score at any time with Unibet and with the forward high on confidence after bagging a perfect hat-trick last week against Derby, I expect him to bag again here and this is my second FA Cup tip.

My third and final Norwich vs Southampton betting tip is going to be for the scores to be level at half-time. This happened in both fixtures between the two sides last season and has happened in Southampton’s last five matches. Odds for this to happen are 11/10 at Stan James and this completes my tips for this FA Cup clash.
Norwich will be without midfielder Graham Dorrans as he is out with a ligament injury whilst Robbie Brady may also be missing with speculation about his future continuing with a number of Premier League clubs after the Republic of Ireland international. Southampton announced that Jose Fonte has handed in a transfer request so it is unlikely that he will play any part on Saturday and Charlie Austin is still missing with a shoulder injury.
This fixture was a Premier League fixture last season and Norwich won this meeting back in early 2016 with a 1-0 victory at Carrow Road. Southampton did win their home fixture against the Canaries though and it is worth noting that there was a red card in both fixtures between these sides last season.
Being the Premier League side, Southampton are favourites for this game and are best-priced 11/10 for the win at Bet365. The draw is 12/5 at Coral and a win for the Championship side is also 12/5 with SkyBet. Jay Rodriguez is favourite to open the scoring with the bookies and is 6/1 to do so with Paddy Power but my anytime goal scorer shout (Nelson Oliveira) looks very tempting at 15/2 with Bet365.
Norwich Double Chance – 3/4 at Bet365: £200 bonus.
Nelson Oliveira to score anytime: 13/5 at Unibet: £30 free bet.
A draw at Half-Time: 11/10 at Stan James: bet £10 get £20.
