Reading vs West Brom Betting Tips and Predictions

Reading v West Brom predictions and betting tips for this weekend’s FA Cup fixture including the best odds for our three tips and a massive offer for West Brom to win.

The FA Cup returns this weekend and there’s a tricky looking fifth round tie for West Bromwich Albion as they travel to Reading at 3pm. Keep up to date with all the action on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday and here are our Inferno Bet free bet offer tips.

Reading vs West Brom Predictions

After suffering semi-final heartbreak last season at the hands of the eventual winners Arsenal, Reading have carried on where they left off and are putting together another impressive FA Cup run this campaign. The Royals have been free-scoring so far in the competition having seen off ten man Huddersfield 5-2 in the third round – albeit via a replay – and then thrashing League One Walsall 4-0 last time out.

However, these cup performances are in stark contrast to their league form where Brian McDermott’s team haven’t won in their last six matches and men have really struggled for goals both home and away. Although Reading aren’t conceding many at the other end of the pitch, you have to go back to November 21st to find the last occasion they scored more than one goal in a game, and even this was against bottom of the league Bolton Wanderers.

Unlike their hosts, West Brom’s run to the fifth round has been far from smooth and Tony Pulis’ side have had to scrape through via two replays despite being handed a couple of favourable home draws. The Baggies made real hard work of beating Bristol City in the third round and needed a last minute goal just to take the tie back to Ashton Gate – where they eventually won the tie 1-0. Their progression from the fourth round was even more drawn out, and West Brom only booked their clash against Reading by virtue of a penalty shootout win over a Peterborough side that dominated for long periods in both ties.

Premier League form continues to be a slight worry for West Brom and they currently reside in 14th place, which is an area in the table they seldom seem to vacate. Although Pulis’ defensive record is quite impressive, his brand of attacking football is practically non-existent. The Baggies currently have the second worst goalscoring record in the division and have only managed two goals in their last five league games. Although West Brom saw off Everton 1-0 last weekend, the mere fact The Toffees had 76% possession, 33 shots and 14 corners certainly suggests they got away with murder on that occasion.

Heading into our FA Cup predictions for Saturday’s clash and all eyes will be on what Reading side turns up at 3pm. If it’s the league one, we could be in for an absolute stink bomb at The Madjeski, and this certainly suggests why this tie wasn’t selected as one of the televised matches this weekend. Nevertheless, considering there have been three replays in four of these side’s fixtures already, I can see this match ending all square as well.

With this in mind my first Reading vs West Brom is to back the draw outright at 9/4 with Betfred, along with under 2.5 goals at 4/7 with William Hill. Although the latter bet’s odds aren’t exactly the most exciting around, both sides have only managed two goals in their last five league games between them. As well as eight of Reading’s and six of West Brom’s last ten league games have seen under 2.5 goals, so the statistics are definitely in favour of this match following suit.

Finally, for something of a longshot in the goalscoring market, and despite West Brom’s toils in the final third, they still have the highest percentage for set-piece goals in the Premier League this season. Therefore, have a crack at Jonas Olsson to score anytime in the match at 18/1 with Bet365. The 6ft5 Swede scored against Liverpool recently and also provided the goal bound flick-on for Solomon Rondon’s tap-in at Everton over the weekend.

My final Reading vs West Brom prediction is for Jonas Olsson to score anytime and the best odds for this tip are 18/1 with bet365.
