Newly relegated Falkirk will be plying their trade in the Scottish League One next season after finishing bottom of the Championship table last season. They finished level on points with Queen of the South and just a point from safety but were relegated. They’ve started this campaign by winning their only friendly – 3-0 away to Brechin City – but that one fixture isn’t going to give them match sharpness for the visit of Livingstone.
The visitors finished ninth in the top flight last season and look to have had a better pre-season preparation than Falkirk. They’ve played three friendlies beating English League One side Tranmere Rovers and Alloa Athletic in their last two games.
The other teams in this section of the League Cup draw are Stranraer, Ayr United and Berwick Rangers so Livingstone will expect to progress but will want to start with three points here.
The first of our football tips tonight is for both teams to score. Falkirk are the weaker side on paper here but they do have home advantage to help them. Even though they were relegated last season they did score in eight of their last nine home matches so that will give their fans hope of at least getting a goal in this game. Livingstone should win this one in truth, but they should definitely get on the scoresheet at the very least.
For a correct score tip, we need to back up our BTTS prediction and reflect this when picking Livingstone to win. They beat Tranmere 2-1 in a friendly recently and given that this is the first game of the season, we’re not expecting fireworks from either side. A 2-1 away win could be a good bet.
