Forest Green vs Tranmere betting tips

Forest Green vs Tranmere predictions and betting tips for this crucial second leg of the League Two play-off semi-finals on Monday 13th May. The first leg was a fiery affair, and produced a number of talking points. The Wirral side hold a slender 1-0 advantage going into the second meeting – will they regret all of those missed chances?

Forest Green vs Tranmere Betting Tips

If you’re going to lose a first leg, then a 1-0 defeat is the best possible outcome, and Mark Cooper will be keen to stress to his players that they can turn this around on Monday night. FGR were second best for much of the game, but they did see Gavin Gunning dismissed, and did miss a few chances of their own late on.

It’s never easy going to Prenton Park, and the Gloucestershire side were only undone by an Ollie Banks thunderbolt.

Forest Green dropped far too many points at home this season, but their form did improve as the season wore on, and they’ll be confident of capitalising on Tranmere’s ropey away form. The Wirral outfit were wasteful on Friday night, and some of those missed chances may be playing on James Norwood’s mind here.

Tranmere have scored just one goal on the road since March 23rd, and they have found the net just five times in their last eight games. The goals have seemingly dried up, although they are always tough to break down.

Forest Green failed to find the net against Exeter, but Matt Taylor’s men were scrapping away for a play-off place at the time, whilst FGR were assured of their position.

At the New Lawn, they’ve netted in 12 of their last 13 games, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them fire in the first goal here. They beat Tranmere 3-1 earlier in the campaign, and although a victory may not neccessarily cement their place at Wembley, I fancy them to win inside 90 minutes.

Cooper seemed pretty content post-match, and that confidence should transmit to his players ahead of this second leg.

Forest Green to Win is the first of my League Two betting tips, and it’s Evens for them to come out in top inside 90 minutes with Betfred. They are offering all new customers £30 in free bets to use on this week’s fixtures.

Forest Green vs Tranmere Anytime Goalscorer Prediction

Tranmere’s leading marksman James Norwood had a rare off-day on Friday, and missed a number of decent opportunities during the 90 minutes. His opposite number Christian Doidge should arguably have done better in the second half.

The Welshman may potentially face retrospective action for an alleged arm in the face of Ollie Banks, but that is unlikely to be authorised before this tie, and he should feature.

He didn’t face this opposition earlier in the campaign, but he has previously netted against Tranmere in the play-offs when the pair met in the National League at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. He scored during a 3-1 victory, and he could pop up with another important goal in this fixture.

Christian Doidge has 15 for the campaign (one for Bolton), and is always a danger. He is 7/5 to score in this fixture with Bet365, and new customers can enjoy £100 in free bet credits to use throughout the summer months when they sign up.

Forest Green vs Tranmere Goals Betting Tips

Play-off second legs are always lively affairs, and we should see a few more goals in this one. However, with Tranmere’s poor recent record on the road, I wouldn’t be overly confident with backing the Over 2.5 Goals market here.

Four of Forest Green’s last home matches have seen 2-3 Goals pay out, and there is unlikely to be much between the two sides in this fixture.

Only 16 of Tranmere’s 46 fixtures have actually finished with three or more goals this campaign, and they aren’t a naturally high-scoring side. There are a few anomalies along the way, but generally, their games are tight.

This bet would have landed in 30 of Forest Green’s 46 League Two games this season, which is an impressive 65%, and that’s enough to persuade me to back it to pay out once again at 11/10.

2-3 Goals Exactly is 11/10 with Betvictor and it is the third of our League Two betting tips for Monday’s game. They are offering a £40 free bet for all new customers.
