Kilmarnock vs St. Mirren betting tips and predictions for the 1st round of the Betfred Cup which takes place on Friday 13th July. Our preview includes an Under/Over and correct score prediction for the game which kicks off at 7:45pm and will be screened on BT Sport. Will the Premiership newcomers be able to cause a shock?

The Betfred Cup has a new format and it’s fair to say that it hasn’t been warmly welcomed by many managers. Steve Clarke slammed the organisers suggesting that they ‘don’t understand football’ with the former Reading boss believing that his side shouldn’t be returning to competitive football so soon. It leaves Kilmarnock with just three weeks of training under their belts and very little chance to test themselves ahead of this contest. Likewise, Alan Stubbs hasn’t had chance to properly get his feet under the table at St.Mirren with the former defender taking over from Jack Ross who has left for Wearside. They’ve made a few new signings and Stubbs will be tasked with maintaining the feel-good factor which saw them promoted back to the top flight. This will be a decent test of their credentials ahead of the new Premiership season.

Kilmarnock vs St.Mirren Betting Prediction

Steve Clarke completely rejuvenated Kilmarnock last season and the gaffer has just signed a new contract. Many of the players have spoken of the enjoyment of playing under his coaching staff and that has translated onto the pitch. They’ve made a couple of summer signings with Stuart Findlay arriving alongside Bournemouth loanee Mikael Ndjoli and both players could make their competitive debuts in this tie. They fared well in cup competitions last season, reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and taking Aberdeen to penalties. They will keen to get off to a flying start and despite some negativity towards this competition, they should be able to get the better of St.Mirren. It’s all-change for the Buddies with Alan Stubbs replacing Jack Ross and the Premiership newcomers may need some time to settle into life under the former Rotherham boss. Kilmarnock should win this match and can be backed at 5/6 with William Hill. Use their £30 in free bets and daily bet boost on this game.

Goals Prediction

This game could be played at a fairly low tempo. Fitness levels are not up to scratch yet and there is plenty of work to be done ahead of the season commencing. Both teams have a number of new signings who are slotting into the side and although it’ll be an intriguing 90 minutes, it could be a low-scoring one. Under 2.5 Goals is available at 8/11 with Betfred and you can use their £30 free bet to wager on this match.

Kilmarnock vs St.Mirren Correct Score Prediction

St.Mirren were excellent under Jack Ross last season and the new Sunderland boss leaves a terrific legacy behind. Alan Stubbs looks like a sensible appointment but it’s going to take time for him to make his mark. They will battle hard but might just come up short and a 2-0 Kilmarnock victory looks plausible here. It can be backed at 17/2 with Bet Victor and you can use their £40 free bet on any of this weekend’s action.

Head to Head Stats

It’s been three years since these two sides have faced one another but Kilmarnock have won three of the last four meetings between the pair. St.Mirren haven’t recorded a victory at Rugby Park since May 2013.
