Barcelona vs Sevilla predictions and betting tips for this weekend’s Spanish Super Cup which takes place in Morocco. Can Barcelona clinch their first piece of silverware of the season?
The Catalans hammered Sevilla 5-0 in the Copa Del Rey final and they’ll be hoping for a similarly convincing performance here. See our betting tips and match predictions below.
Sevilla will be sick of the sight of Barcelona. They’ve not had much luck against this opposition and they face the La Liga champions once again in the Spanish Super Cup 2018. Luckily, they’ve dumped the two-legged format and this will be settled in 90 minutes with Barcelona heavily fancied to lift the trophy. It’s also being played in Morocco at Stade Ibn Batouta which is the first time it’s been played outside of Spain. Barcelona have added Malcom and Arturo Vidal to their already-talented squad this summer although the latter is unlikely to feature here. Ernesto Valverde’s side dominated La Liga last season and it’s hard to see them tripping up here. They haven’t lost to Sevilla since 2015 and have netted 12 times against them in their last five meetings. It should be another entertaining 90 minutes and the first of our Barcelona vs Sevilla predictions is Barcelona Win and Over 2.5 Goals which is available at 21/20 with Ladbrokes. Sevilla will also have a number of new players settling in Andalusia. Goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik is one of many new additions who will face the Barcelona attack in their first competitive outing and it could be a tough evening. Barcelona have netted goals in both halves during their last two encounters with Sevilla and there looks to be decent value on backing a repeat of that. Despite a number of players settling in, I don’t expect this game to be played at a slow pace. The second of our Barcelona vs Sevilla predictions is Barcelona to Score in Both Halves and is available at Evens with Bet365. You can use their £100 in free bet credits to back this bet prediction.
As always with Barcelona, there are a number of players who could hit the back of the net. Philippe Coutinho ended the season in fantastic form and he could continue where he left off. The Brazilian also netted at the World Cup and is playing with plenty of confidence. With Lionel Messi taking a large chunk out of the market, there could be value on Coutinho to net inside the 90 minutes and he can be backed at 15/8 with 888Sport.

Barcelona are 8/15 favourites to secure their first piece of silverware of the season. It’s a 90 minute price and the draw could be tempting for some at 10/3 with Ladbrokes. Sevilla find it tough against this opposition but they are available at 19/4 to pull off a surprise. For those seeking greater value, it’s 27/20 for Barcelona/Barcelona HT/FT. Lionel Messi rarely draws a blank and he is unsurprisingly the 23/20 favourite in the first goalscorer market.

Arturo Vidal is likely to sit this one out. He is still recovering from a knee injury and Barcelona cannot field more than three non-Eu players under the new rules. Malcom is likely to get the nod. Dennis Suarez is still sidelined with an injury.
Carlos Fernandez is the main absentee for Sevilla and he will miss this game through injury. Simon Kjaer has been linked with a move away from the club but he remains in Andalusia and should get a game here.
Our anytime goalscorer tip Philippe Coutinho is one of the many standout stars in this side and his forward runs could play an important part in this fixture. He’s also not afraid to shoot from distance.
Ibrahim Amadou is a new recruit for Sevilla and looks set to play an important role in the side this season. He will be used to break up play and he has a tough task on his debut to stop this Barcelona outfit getting a sight of goal.
