West Ham vs Macclesfield predictions and Carabao Cup betting tips for Wednesday night’s fixture. Kick-off is 7:45pm on the 26th of September and our tipster has selected three recommended bets.
Tonight’s football betting tips take us to the London Stadium for this Carabao Cup game in which the Premier League side are overwhelming favourites to progress to the next round of the competition. The Hammers have started to turn a corner under Manuel Pellegrini after a poor start to the campaign. They netted three times against Everton at Goodison Park and restricted Chelsea’s chances during this weekend’s entertaining 0-0 draw. They are likely to rest a few players for this clash but their second string is still pretty strong. After impressing at the weekend, Michail Antonio could be handed a start whilst the likes of Robert Sndograss and Aaron Cresswell are also likely to feature. Adrian should deputise in goal. Macclesfield are propping up the EFL but they’ve progressed well in this competition so far. Mark Yates’ side lost a relegation six-pointer at the weekend against Morecambe but played the majority of that game with ten men. They aren’t bad going forward but questions remain at the back for the Silkmen. They’ve faced the most shots on target in the division and have been under pressure for the majority of games this season. They should put up a good fight here but they lack the requisite quality to keep West Ham off the score-sheet. It should be fairly routine for the Premier League side and that’s why the first of our West Ham vs Macclesfield predictions is West Ham -2 on the handicap and it’s available at 6/5 with Betfair. You can use their £100 in free bets to back the Hammers.
It might take a while for West Ham to break through here but it pays to be patient. Macclesfield haven’t kept a clean sheet on the road yet this campaign and away from home, they’ve conceded eight of their 12 goals in the second half. Mark Yates’ side may struggle to keep a free-flowing West Ham side at bay during the late stages of this game. Goals are certainly a possibility here and it’s 8/15 for Over 1.5 Second Half Goals which looks like a decent option but we prefer to take the 4/5 on offer with Betway for Over 1.5 West Ham Goals in the Second Half. The top flight outfit should have the fitness edge and should be able to capitalise during the latter stages of this contest. It is the second of our West Ham vs Macclesfield predictions.
We don’t know the West Ham line-up yet but there are a number of players who are unlikely to feature in this game. Marko Arnautovic will not be risked as he’s carrying a slight injury. Javier Hernandez is believed to be feeling under the weather and is unlikely to play any part. The aforementioned Michail Antonio could be handed a start and he always provides pace and power. His direct running and determination is likely to catch out the Macclesfield defence and he is likely to provide the biggest threat. He should be able to team up with Felipe Anderson and Ryan Fredericks in this game and is priced at 11/10 with Bet365 to grab a goal anytime in this fixture. He is the third of our West Ham vs Macclesfield predictions.
West Ham Win – 1/7
Draw – 8/1
Macclesfield Win – 22/1
West Ham are incredibly short in the betting but it’s hard to see them slipping up. There is always a gulf in quality when a Premier League side face League Two opposition but Macclesfield are currently bottom of the fourth tier and they are struggling for form. They were defeated at the weekend and they sit marooned with just two points to their name. They are also facing a side who have started to turn a corner and have looked significantly more cohesive in recent weeks. It’s unsurprising to see West Ham priced at 1/7. Our football betting tips are suggesting that the handicaps are far more preferable and punters can get -1 at 4/9, -2 at 20/21 and -3 which is available at 21/20. All of them could land in this tie.
Correct score bettors can get 3-0 West Ham at 11/2 with Bet365 whereas 15/2 is currently available for a 4-0 score-line. It should be a stroll for West Ham and the betting reflects that. A more conservative 2-0 score-line is priced at 6/1.
We don’t know the line-ups for either side but Macclesfield don’t have the luxury of being able to rest players for this tie. West Ham look likely to rotate the majority of their XI. Lucas Perez could be given a rare chance to impress and is available at 5/1 to net first, the same price as Michail Antonio and Felipe Anderson. Robert Snodgrass is always a threat and is 11/2 to score the opener.
West Ham -2 Handicap – 6/5 with Betfair
Over 1.5 West Ham Second Half Goals – 4/5 with Betway
Michail Antonio – Anytime Goalscorer – 11/10 with Bet365
