Bury vs Bolton predictions and betting tips for tonight’s Monday Night Football from League One including the best odds for each bet from our tipster.
There’s a televised League One match to night as Bury host Bolton in a North West derby. We’ve picked out the best three betting tips for the 19:45 kick off.
A couple of weeks ago Bury were sitting in 2nd behind Scunthorpe in the table. David Flitcroft’s men had surprised many with their early season form and were looking good value for their placing. It’s all gone a bit sour since then with injuries and suspensions biting hard. Jacob Mellis has only just returned from a ban and he was sent off in midweek once again. It’s now five defeats in a row for the Shakers and it’s not been a happy October. They’ve slipped to 11th in the table and have netted just three times in four games. Bolton started the season impressively under Phil Parkinson, then had a little wobble, but a scrappy 1-0 win against Swindon put their season back on track. Three consecutive victories have moved them up to 4th in the table and could go 2nd with a win here. Zak Clough got on the scoresheet twice against Oldham and the Trotters will be pleased to see the youngster back on the scoresheet.
Bolton are favourites for this match despite being away from home. They have beaten Swindon at the County Ground and Millwall at the Den recently so Gigg Lane won’t hold any fear for them. I think they should be backed and that’s my first Bury vs Bolton betting tip tonight.
The goals have dried up for the hosts and they are facing a side who have kept three consecutive clean sheets. I think this one will be a low scoring affair so my second Bury vs Bolton prediction is for under 2.5 goals to be scored and the odds are 5/6.
Sammy Ameobi has been making a nuisance of himself since joining Bolton. He’s netted twice in recent weeks and could strike again in front of the TV cameras so he is our third Bury vs Bolton betting tip from the anytime goalscorer market.
Kean Bryan and Jacob Mellis were both dismissed in the defeat to Rochdale last weekend. The latter returns to midfield for this fixture, but Kean Bryan still has two games left on the sidelines. Tom Walker cannot play against his parent club.
Tom Pope and Craig Jones are long term absentees.
Tom Thorpe was taken off in the midweek victory and won’t be fit enough to play here.
There are a few long term injury problems for the visitors with Darren Pratley and Mark Davies amongst the wounded.
These two don’t meet very often with Bolton spending many years in the top two tiers. They did meet in the Capital One Cup (As it was known then) in 2014 with Bolton winning 3-2 in injury time.
Their last competitive meeting was back in 1999 when Bury beat Bolton 2-1 here.
Bolton are the favourites given their league position and recent form. They can be backed at around 6/4 with many bookmakers. The draw is fancied by many and can be backed at 12/5. Bury are a big price for a home team at around 21/10.
