MK Dons vs Port Vale betting tips and predictions for this Sunday afternoon League One fixture with the best odds for each selection from our tipster.
The second of two League One games on Sunday takes us on a trip to Stadium:MK as Port Vale are the visitors. We’ve got the best three betting tip for the 14:15 kick off.
Both of these sides have made decent starts to life in League One this season. The Dons sit three positions behind Vale in 9th and just two points shy of their visitors. Most sides rely on their home form, but Karl Robinson’s side have been much better on the road this season. They have the best away form in the league taking 13 points from their first 6 games and conceding just 5 goals. Contrast that to their home form, which is the worst in the division with no win in front of their own fans and just 2 points acquired from their opening 5 matches. Many people had Bruno Ribeiro’s Port Vale tipped as one of the sides to struggle this season after an influx of new players were loosely moulded into a team at the start of August, but it’s worked and they are sitting pretty in 6th boasting the best home form in the division. Away from home, they need to improve with just four goals scored and no win on the road in 5.
So it’s the battle of the worst home form against the worst away form!
This is a tough one to call. It seems a little predictable to predict the draw. Something will have to give at some point and with Vale coming off back to back defeats for the first time this season, I’d have to slightly favour the home team. They have had tough home games with the likes of 2nd place Bradford and 3rd place Bury both winning here. They must turn it around it at some point. My first MK Dons vs Port Vale betting tip is an MK Dons win.
Although I’m tipping the MK Dons win, Port Vale will undoubtedly play their part. They’ve found the net in their last three away games including a 2-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers and a 2-2 draw with Peterborough. The Dons have leaked too many goals here and it’s likely that both sides will find the back of the net so both teams to score is my second MK Dons vs Port Vale betting tip this weekend.
Ryan Colclough has started the season impressively and netted a hat trick against Fleetwood fairly recently. With the MK Dons striker not firing this season, they are relying on goals from further back so at some decent odds I’m on Colclough to score anytime for my third football betting tip in this League One clash.
Dean Lewington and Darren Potter were both rested in midweek against Peterborough and should be reinstated here. Dean Bowditch who captained the side in midweek might drop back down to the bench.
Keiran Agard scored at the weekend against Oldham and is likely to keep his place in the side. Whilst Brandon Thomas—Asante will hope he did enough in midweek to impress his manager and perhaps occupy a starting berth here.
Anthony Grant was missing from last weekend’s defeat to Coventry and was absent for the defeat in the EFL Trophy, but the influential midfielder will return to the starting 11 for this game. They are always a little more assured with him in the side. Jerome Thomas picked up a knock last weekend, but should be able to shrug it off in time for this game. Jak Alnwick, Remi Streete and Martin Paterson were all rested in midweek, but will be back in the starting 11 here.
Paulo Tavares has picked up five yellow cards this season and will be absent for this match.
The MK Dons have a decent record against Port Vale with the Valiants winning just one of the last five. That came back in April 2014 at Vale Park. These sides drew 0-0 the last time they met in April 2015. Vale haven’t scored in their last three visits to Stadium:MK with the Dons winning the last two matches.
No surprise to see the home odds-on for this clash. The Dons will be fancied by many after two victories inside 8 days. They have the momentum going into this one and 5/6 is the best price available. Port Vale are around 7/2 to pick up their first away victory of the season.
After his goalscoring exploits last weekend, Kieran Agard is the favourite in the goalscoring market. Nicky Maynard and Dean Bowditch are next at slightly larger prices.
