Leicester vs Manchester United predictions and betting tips for the 2016 Community Shield on Sunday 7th August including the best bets and offers for the match.
The traditional curtain raiser of the new top-flight season takes place on Sunday with Premier League champions Leicester City taking on FA cup holders Manchester United at Wembley. Here are a couple of predictions for the big game.
Leicester City fans are still undoubtedly in dream-land after their astonishing triumph last season and are looking forward to Champions League football this season. They have been preparing for this by taking part in the International Champions Cup where they have come up against top class opposition in PSG and Barcelona. Both of these have been entertaining matches with the latter game finishing 4-2. Although it is only pre-season, the amount of goals that Leicester have been conceding must be a worry for Claudio Ranieri. At the other end of the pitch, I don’t think they will ever lack goals; Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez will continue to cause mayhem for opposing teams but I am really impressed with the signing of Ahmed Musa. The young Nigerian is pacey, skilful and a brilliant finisher and he will fit right into the Foxes counter-attacking style of play.
Manchester United have won the Community Shield on 20 different occasions and are used to playing in this particular game. The fans will be full of optimism for the upcoming season with Jose Mourinho now taking charge and the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan now playing for the Reds. They have been steady in pre-season winning two, drawing one and losing one but they have had no injuries whilst on tour and that is always a positive at the start of a new season. United are another team who are possibly stronger in attack rather than defence. They conceded six times in two games against Borussia Dortmund and Galatasaray and could do with an experienced centre-back to help new boy Eric Bailly into his role.
I have already mentioned Ahmed Musa and he showed all his attributes when coming off the bench against Barcelona and scoring a brace. This is some achievement even though we are in pre-season. This is why I think 11/4 for Musa to score anytime is fantastic value for my first Leicester vs Man United betting tip especially considering Manchester United haven’t been too strong at the back in pre-season. So my first prediction will be Ahmed Musa to score anytime at 11/4 with Bet365.
I think this will be an entertaining game with both teams struggling defensively – but both teams to score is odds on. I wouldn’t be surprised if this match ended in a draw but with Mourinho’s record at Wembley and the fact that he will be keen to get his first piece of silver-wear, I can see United edging it. That’s why my second Leicester vs Man United prediction of the day will be Manchester United to win and both teams to score at 3/1 with Coral.
Ahmed Musa to score anytime – 11/4 at Bet365.
Manchester United to win and both teams to score – 3/1 at Coral.
