Luton vs Huddersfield Betting Tips

After a rocky start to the campaign, Luton are finally up and running, with Graeme Jones’ men picking up their first victory of the campaign against an out-of-sorts Barnsley side. It was an impressive attacking display from the Hatters, who also netted three times in midweek in the EFL Cup. They haven’t been as free-flowing and as easy-on-the-eye as last season, but there is still plenty of invention and quality in the final third. Barnsley came out of their shell in the second half, and did give the Luton defence plenty of think about. Jones’ side will be hoping to make an equally quick start against a struggling Huddersfield side on Saturday afternoon. With five goals from set-pieces this season, the hosts have found a different route to goal, and they rank above Millwall with their four strikes from corners so far. The fans will be hoping that their side can pick up consecutive victories at this level for the first time in 13 years, and avoid slipping back into old habits.

Huddersfield won 1-0 the last time that these two sides met in the second tier, but victories are hard to come by for the Terriers right now. Despite Jan Siewert’s dismissal, the West Yorkshire outfit sit bottom of the table alongside Stoke, and are struggling to keep sides off the scoresheet. Worryingly, last weekend was the first time they haven’t been able to score this season, and even the prolific Karlan Grant looked fairly isolated up top. Mark Hudson needs to start picking up results soon if he has any desires to get the job on a permanent basis. It’s now no win in 15 for the visitors, and their triumph over Wolves in February feels like a very long time ago. They did create chances against Reading, but they had no cutting edge, and despite Alex Pritchard firing in shots from distance, goalscoring opportunities were limited. They haven’t conceded more than two goals in any of their matches so far, which suggests that they aren’t too far away from picking up points.

The momentum appears to have finally turned at Kenilworth Road, and Luton are on a good run of form. They hit three in mid-week, and that will surely inspire confidence coming into this home tie. James Collins continues to be a threat at this level, and is ably supported by the likes of Harry Cornick and Elliott Lee. They also have plenty of creativity in wide areas, and it’s hard to see this Huddersfield defence holding firm for too long. Back the Hatters to pick up their first home league win of the campaign here at 23/20 with Betway.

Whilst James Collins will always rank highly in the anytime goalscorer market, it might be best to take the slightly bigger price on Harry Cornick. He’s already netted at Kenilworth Road this season, and is a clever player who has an eye for goal. He’s priced at 3/1 with Bet365, and that looks slightly too big.
