Man City v Aston Villa Premier League Predictions

After a couple of dreadful results threatened to derail a top four finish, Manchester City returned to normality last weekend with a 2-0 victory over a poor West Ham side. Despite the unconvincing nature of the win, the three points maintained a seven point gap over Liverpool whilst keeping City within touching distance of Arsenal and Manchester United.

Nevertheless, City do have some injury worries ahead of the weekend and will be sweating of the fitness of Sergio Aguero and David Silva who picked up Knocks against West Ham. January signing Wilfried Bony is back in contention, though, after a two week lay-off, but Vincent Kompany looks set to miss the remainder of the season.

Opponents Aston Villa come in to Saturday's clash full of confidence after their terrific win over Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final. However, things aren't as dazzling in the Premier League and Tim Sherwood's men have a real fight on their hands to stay in England's top flight. Villa currently hold a four point advantage over the relegation zone – albeit having played a game more than three of their rivals – but have won three of their last six matches.

Despite their perilous position, it's clear Villa are playing far better football under Sherwood and the former Spurs boss has to take huge credit for the turnaround in form of star striker Christian Benteke. After being starved of service under the reign of Paul Lambert, the Belgian international has scored nine goals in nine matches under the new boss.

Although Villa were fantastic against Liverpool in the FA Cup, that was a one-off knockout match and I would be very surprised if they played with the same intensity at The Etihad. If they do, though, City could have a real match on their hands, especially considering their poor form of late. However, I still expect Pellegrini's men to have too much for Villa but I would certainly stay clear of betting on them outright at such short odds in my Man City v Aston Villa betting tips. Nevertheless, a City win and both teams to score might just have some legs at 2/1 with Coral. Villa have scored in their last three away matches in a row, and with Christian Benteke in red-hot form, could cause City some problems.

Our football tipsters’ first Man City v Aston Villa bet tip is for Man City to win and both teams to score at odds of 2/1 with Coral.

Moving over to the goalscoring market, and despite having a season to forget, Yaya Toure has a decent record against Villa and fetches a healthy price of 2/1 to score anytime with Betfred. The Ivorian has scored in his last three matches against the Midlands side and may benefit from playing an advanced role should Aguero and Silva not make the eleven.

Have a bet on Yaya Toure to score anytime for our next weekend football tip on Man City v Aston Villa at 2/1 with Betfred.

Finally for a little something in the goal timing market and there are some interesting statistics surrounding the two sides on Saturday evening. Manchester City (17) currently have the best record in the league for scoring goals in the last fifteen minutes of matches, and Aston Villa (15) have the worst record in the division for conceding goals in the last fifteen minutes.

With this in mind, back City to score in the last fifteen minutes of the match at 21/20 with William Hill.
