Man United v Cambridge Betting Tips and Predictions
Manchester United v Cambridge betting tips and predictions for tonight’s FA Cup replay with the best free football tips.
Cambridge United fought tooth and nail at The Abbey Stadium to secure a lucrative FA Cup replay at Old Trafford, but can they go one further and knock out the 11 times FA Cup winners? See what the football pundits predictions are saying for this match below.
Man United v Cambridge Betting Tips
Since the visit of Man United’s millionaires, Cambridge have drawn 1-1 with Dagenham and Redbridge and lost 3-2 to Luton Town. Hardly form that would inspire any lingering thoughts of an upset at Old Trafford. United on the other hand, swatted away a Leicester side looking to do the double over Louis Van Gaal’s men, by a comfortable 3-1 margin. Thankfully for United fans, Van Gaal has erred on the side of sanity and discarded his 3-5-2 formation in favour of a 4-4-2 diamond, which as the results have shown; United’s players are far more comfortable with.
Despite the massive upsets inflicted on Premier League opposition already in the competition, I am certain that United will not slip up in this match and am predicting an easy home win in Man United v Cambridge tonight. The FA Cup is their only chance of silverware this season and they are the highest ranked club left in the competition. United’s players must be confident they can go on and win the trophy given the exit of the two teams above them in the Premier League.
If they were to beat United at Old Trafford, Cambridge’s achievement would surely surpass that of Bradford in beating Chelsea. The odds for a United win reflect this grim outlook on Cambridge’s chances; odd of 1/12 at best. Therefore, betting on a United win alone would hardly be a money spinner! Due to this, we will have to investigate further to find the money winners for tonight’s football betting tips.
United have scored exactly 3 goals in 3 out of their last 4 home games, conceding 2 in the process. In this replay I expect them to beat Cambridge by at least 2 goals. I also expect Cambridge’s defence to stifle United for a while, like they did at the Abbey Stadium, however I can see United’s class shining through on the vast Old Trafford pitch against a valiant but increasingly tired Cambridge side. Once United have their 2 goals I expect them to take their foot off the gas and save energy for their trip to West Ham on Sunday.
Therefore for the first of my Man United v Cambridge betting tips I predict that the game will produce fewer than 3.5 goals. The best odds for this are 21/20 with Boylesports.
I do not think that Cambridge have enough about them in attack to cause United any problems at all. For all their hard work at The Abbey stadium, they were mainly limited to set piece chances. I highly doubt that Cambridge will get too far up the pitch to win set pieces to test United’s aerial ability given The Red Devil’s dominance in home games.
I predict that United will win to nil. Odds of 8/13 can be found with Sky Bet.
I am going to pick a correct score bet for my final prediction; something which I very rarely do. Here is my reasoning for this betting tip; Van Gaal is surely going to pick a strong team due to the importance of winning the FA Cup, for his reign as well as for United’s confidence. Also, given my previous two predictions, I must conclude that if the game has under 3.5 goals and United are to win to nil, United will win either 2-0 or 3-0. I am going to stick my neck out and predict that United will grab a third against Cambridge and run out comfortable 3-0 winners. The best odds for a United 3-0 win are 11/2 with Paddy Power.
