Manchester Derby Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview – Man United vs Man City

Man United betting tips

Manchester United vs Manchester City betting tips and predictions for the 4:30pm kick-off in the Premier League on 8/3/2020 and a 7.45/1 same game multi tip.

The second league Manchester derby of the season is here, and Guardiola’s side will be keen to avoid a rather embarrassing double from United. There’s little left to fight for in the league but preventing United from staging a bid for the top four should be motivation enough.

Both sides come into this off the back of FA Cup wins and they’ll be expected to make the semi-finals of that competition after being handed decent draws. There is also European commitments for both teams, City in the Champions League and United in the Europa League. See our Man United vs Man City predictions and betting tips below.

Half Time Result Prediction

Manchester United have gone behind in four of their last eight league games, whereas Manchester City have taken the lead in six of their last eight. However, United have only been trailing at the break in three of those, whilst Manchester City have only led twice.

More often than not, both teams have gone in level. Manchester United have more at stake so do not be surprised to see a conservative approach employed by Solskjaer’s side, at least in the early stages of the game.

The possible absence of Kevin De Bruyne could be a huge blow for Manchester City. Aymeric Laporte’s recent injury is also a blow but Fernandinho has performed admirably in his stead.

Manchester United will be without Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial for the foreseeable but Bruno Fernandes good form will give them cause for optimism. If Manchester City can close him down quickly and stifle any long shots from the Portuguese, they will be preventing one of United’s main weapons. Rodri, who has played well in recent weeks, will likely be tasked with this.

Up front City have plenty of fire power in Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, both of whom have delivered when called upon recently. Sterling’s return from injury will also be a big bonus, as we saw against Real Madrid with his instant impact off the bench.

Anytime Goalscorer Tip

It’s never certain who will start, especially with the fixture congestion Manchester City face. However, Guardiola is likely to hand Jesus at least 30 minutes in the derby and that may be all he needs. The Brazilian has been in good goal scoring form recently and could make the difference.
