The International break gives opportunity to Leagues 1 and 2 to play centre stage this weekend. The first game is a televised encounter between two in-form sides at Stadium:MK.
MK Dons are unbeaten in the league this season under Karl Robinson taking 9 points from 5 games. A shock was on the cards in the Capital One Cup against Sunderland before the men from Wearside turned it around late in the game. The goals have been spread around with summer signings Patrick Bamford and Jason Banton getting on the scoresheet recently and the deadline day addition of Danny Green will increase firepower.
Promotion has eluded the Bedfordshire side in previous seasons, but if they maintain their early season consistency, they will be successful this time around.
Swindon meanwhile have 7 points from their opening 5 matches and after losing to goal-happy Peterborough narrowly on the opening day of the season, they have improved beating QPR in the Cup and thumping Crewe 5-0 last Saturday. They are still a young side, but the wise head of Darren Ward will add stability to a squad bristling with talent. Massimo Luongo is a vital component in the midfield and signed permanently from Spurs last week for £400,000. The Australian is not 21 until the end of the month, but is tremendously talented and has found the net twice already this season. 6/1 for Anytime Goalscorer (Coral) looks tremendous value.
Both sides kept clean sheets in their last outings but you could argue that Crewe rarely score away from home (they haven’t done this season to date) and Sheffield United have a fairly blunt forward line with Lyle Taylor failing to live up to expectations. I will take a chance on Over 2.5 Goals in the match at 11/10 with William Hill. Both teams have enough attacking prowess for this match to produce more than three goals and both goalkeepers should be kept busy on Saturday lunchtime.
At a larger price I will also take 17/2 with Stan James for the match to be 1-1 at half time as I think both teams will get on the scoresheet in the first 45 minutes and it should be an entertaining encounter to savour.
Massimo Luongo (Swindon) anytime goalscorer 6/1 (Coral)
Over 2.5 goals in the match 11/10 (William Hill)
Half time score – 17/2 (Stan James)
