Borussia Monchengladbach vs Borussia Dortmund predictions and betting tips for this thrilling denoument to the Bundesliga campaign on Saturday 18th May. Dortmund will be hoping for a Bayern slip-up, but they must ensure that they pick up three points Borussia Park. It won’t be easy for Lucien Favre’s men, who have looked sloppy at the back in recent weeks.
There have been ten goals in Monchengladbach’s last two Bundesliga matches
Dortmund won 3-2 at this ground in April 2017
Lucien Favre’s men have scored nine goals in their last four away matches.
Kick Off Time: 14:30pm
Date: Saturday 18th May, 2019
Venue: Borussia Park
The Bundesliga title race is still in the balance going into the final weekend, and it couldn’t be more exciting. Bayern have a two point advantage, and a home fixture, and therefore are rightly the favourites, but they’ve shown signs of vulnerabilities in recent weeks.
Dortmund have been far from foot-perfect, and they’ve had their own problems, but their easy-on-the-eye football has won them many fans this campaign, and they’ll be desperate to end the Bayern dominance this weekend.
BVB have been dealt a tough fixture against Monchengladbach, who still need points here in order to guarantee fourth position. Die Fohlen need to match or better Leverkusen’s result, and hope that Frankfurt continue their recent wobble.
Favre’s men had problems keeping Dusseldorf off the score-sheet last week, but they did run out 3-2 winners, and you have to worry about their injury-hit defence here. There may be a few nerves amongst the camp, and they are highly unlikely to keep a clean sheet.
Only three teams have stopped them scoring on the road this season (the last one being Bayern), and after hitting two past Bremen and four past Freiburg, they’ll be confident of finding a way past the hosts. Gladbach haven’t won at home since January, and although they smashed past Nurnberg without reply last weekend, they aren’t confident at the back.
Augsburg were the last side to fail to register at this ground, and that came on January 26th. This is a must-win for Dortmund, and they must attack from the first whistle.
The bookies are expecting goals, and it’s hard to argue against it. Over 2.5 Goals is ridiculously short, so backing Over 3.5 Goals at least boosts the price to 17/20. It’s landed in 33% of Gladbach’s matches this campaign, whilst it would have paid out in 55% of Dortmund’s games.
It is the first of our Bundesliga predictions, and Unibet have the standout price. They are offering new customers a free £40 bet to use on the game.
Dortmund still have a number of injury problems, and they aren’t at full strength, but they can welcome Marco Reus back into the side this weekend. The former Gladbach player could have a huge say in this contest on his return from suspension.
He’s notched twenty in all competitions this season, and also found the net in their 2-1 victory at Signal Iduna Park earlier in the campaign.
He scored in the last away game, and will be keen to add to his tally. He has something a little different, and could be the catalyst for a match-winning moment of magic.
Marco Reus is priced at 13/10 with Bet Victor to score anytime in this fixture, and is the second of our Borussia Monchengladbach vs Borussia Dortmund predictions for Saturday afternoon.

This game is likely to be played at 90mph, and I wouldn’t expect either side to take a defensive-minded approach. Dortmund simply must win this game, and pray for Bayern to drop points at the Allianz.
Gladbach aren’t on the beach yet, and their fans will also be keeping their eyes on results elsewhere.
I expect a fast start, and it looks like the markets are geared towards second half goals. However, there has been plenty of action in the first 45 in these sides recent fixtures.
There have been at least two goals in four of Dortmund’s last six Bundesliga games, whilst it was 1-1 at the break when they met earlier in the campaign.
Over 1.5 First Half Goals is the third of our betting tips for Saturday afternoon, and it’s available at 10/11 with Betfred. They are offering all new customers a free £30 bet to use on any of this weekend’s games.
