Morecambe vs Grimsby Preview
Jim Bentley continues to do a wonderful job at the Globe, and he managed to help his side navigate away from any danger last season. Morecambe will always be written off due to their miniscule budget, but they possess the kind of spirit that you cannot buy. Bentley has lost the services of Aaron Collins who helped fire them to safety last season, but they have added Michael Howard, and former marksman Shaun Miller on loan. Miller knows how to find the net at this level, and he used to these surroundings. Lewis Alessandra and John O’Sullivan are both enigmatic players, but they can potentially shine on their day. Meanwhile, the ‘evergreen’ Kevin Ellison is one year older, but continues to have an influence on the dressing room. Morecambe’s home record was mixed last season with ten defeats by the seaside, but did remain undefeated in their last six outings here, and that included a 1-1 draw with Grimsby. Morecambe were brilliant at the end of last season, although they also traditionally get off to fast starts. Last season was the exception with the Lancashire club winning just one of their first eight League Two matches, and Bentley will be keen to avoid a repeat of that sluggish start.

Grimsby were a strange side last season, who were difficult to pin down. Michael Jolley must take plenty of credit for lifting the spirits of the fans, many of whom were still suffering a hangover from the Russell Slade-era. Jolley fell out with Wes Thomas towards the end of the campaign, and the goals dried up. The Mariners were extremely tough to beat at home, and very few sides enjoyed visiting Blundell Park last year. However, it was a completely different story on their travels. They lost 14 of their 23 away games last season, winning just five times on the road. Jolley has added some steel up top with the arrival of James Hanson. He’s a player who completely divides fans and his combative approach could result in some direct football being played. Moses Ogbu is a very intiriguing addition whilst Matt Green will certainly give them some pace. Grimsby could be upper mid-table this season, but they will need to sort out their away form.
Morecambe vs Grimsby Betting Tips
It’s no surprise to see Morecambe priced up as the favourites here. It’s impossible to be confident about a Grimsby side that ended the season in such terrible form, and do not travel well. This is a new season, a chance to right those wrongs, but even at a decent price, it’s hard to see them coming away with all three. The hosts need to start quicker this time around, but they are always better in front of their own fans, and they will be quick out of the traps. Morecambe Draw No Bet is an odds-on price, but looks a sensible pick. It ended 1-1 here last season, so we would have got our money back. The Shrimps are also unbeaten in their last five against this opposition.
The last three fixtures between this pair have been tightly contested, and there’s not been much between the duo. Those games have ended 1-1, 1-2 and 2-0 and we could see a similar outcome here. 2-3 Goals would have paid out in each of those three matches, and it could worth keeping in mind again. It is 11/10 with Bet Victor, and looks the best option.
