Despite all of the shenanigans off-the-field, Inter have managed to stay on course for third position, and they are extremely close to securing that berth. They have two games left, and with their final match against struggling Empoli, they won’t want to go into that fixture knowing that they need three points.
This looks like a tricky fixture for them, but they are facing a side who have nothing left to play for. Napoli have already secured second place behind Juventus, and Ancelotti’s side cannot be caught, even if suffer a defeat here. The Partenopei have not been without their problems recently with some fans protesting against recent results, but they are generally very effective on their own turf.
Inter kept yet another clean sheet on Monday night with a straightforward 2-0 victory against already-relegated Chievo, and they barely had to get out of first gear in that fixture. Their defence is in very good form at the moment, and they’ve now conceded just three times in their last seven games.
Spalletti runs a tight ship, and his side are well-drilled. They’ve only conceded two or more goals on five occasions this campaign, and with plenty at stake, they are unlikely to take too many risks in this one.
Expect Inter to play a fairly cagey game, particularly in the first half, and they will be keen to avoid chasing the game at any point.
Napoli have been a little more open in recent weeks, and that could potentially be the scupperer here, but I’m confident that Inter will keep the game tight. Clashes between these two teams are generally very low-scoring, and they’re relatively well-matched on paper.
There are a number of players who could pop up with a crucial goal in this fixture. For Inter, Radja Nainggolan tends to score important goals, whilst Lautaro Martinez’s strike was the difference when they met earlier in the campaign. However, Ivan Perisic just seems to be hitting a little bit of form. The 30-year is a wonderful footballer, but can also be hugely furstrating on his day.
He’s scored his goals in runs this season, with two in his first three matches, and then a mid-season flourish in which he scored in two consecutive games in mid-February.
The end of the season seems to have sparked a sudden improvement, and he could be worth sticking with here. He’s netted four times since April 3rd, and is a decent price to continue that run.
Ivan Perisic is the second of our Napoli vs Inter betting tips, and he is available at 13/5 with Betfair to score anytime in this contest. They are offering £100 of free bets to use on any of this weekend’s football.
Inter just have a way of getting something out of games, and their need is clearly greater coming into this fixture. With only two defeats at Stadio San Paolo this campaign, I’m not expecting the visitors to neccessarily win this one easily, but they do have a sniff of causing a mini-upset.
They are undefeated in their last three fixtures against Napoli, and with the home side conceding cheap goals in recent games, Inter could perhaps take advantage.
I’m urging caution on this one however, so take the Draw No Bet option.
