Belgium vs Iceland Predictions

The first of our Nations League predictions comes from Brussels as the unstoppable juggernaut that is Belgium take on Iceland. Roberto Martinez’s side have lost just one of their last 30 games in all competitions and they sit top of their group with a perfect two wins from two. Having played one game less than Switzerland, they have a distinct advantage and will be confident of promotion. The Red Devils have already scored five times in Group 2 and they will fancy their chances against an out-of-sorts Iceland side. The away side’s bubble has truly burst and they are winless in 11 games coming into this fixture. They conceded three times to Belgium when the pair met in September and they also shipped six to the Swiss. Another blow for Iceland is the loss of Gylfi Sigurdsson. The Everton play-maker picked up an injury against Everton and will not feature here. He is the talisman and their most likely route to goal and that will play into Belgium’s hands. The hosts price has shortened significantly with the news of Sigurdsson’s absence and at 1/5 on the outright market, the handicaps are the way to go. They hit three on their travels and back on home soil, they should be able to reach the same level. Iceland had just a single shot in that fixture and are likely to find their chances restricted once again.

Belgium -2 on the handicap market is 15/8 with Betfair and that is our first of our Belgium vs Iceland predictions for Thursday night.

Belgium vs Iceland Under/Over Prediction

Iceland’s goal-threat will be severely diminished here by Sigurdsson’s absence and although they did net a late goal against Switzerland, they are unlikely to trouble Thibaut Courtois too much throughout this contest. They netted just two goals at the World Cup and have failed to score in two of their opening three Nations League matches. However, they did score twice against France and Belgium don’t keep enough clean sheets for my liking. It ended 3-1 when these two sides met for a friendly in Belgium in 2014 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar number of goals in this clash. Belgium managed to find a way through the Iceland defence on three occasions during the reverse tie and they are usually fairly destructive at home. Backing Over 3.5 Goals also keeps the possibility of an Iceland goal open and it looks a fairly decent price at 6/4 with Bet365. The odds are all pointing towards a high-scoring game and it doesn’t appear to be the kind of game in which defences come out on top.

Over 2.5 Goals is the second of our Belgium vs Iceland predictions for Thursday night.

Belgium vs Iceland Goalscorer Prediction

Romelu Lukaku may not be enjoying a profitable spell at Manchester United but he is clearly a fan of the Nations League. The big striker has netted two goals in his last two matches in this competition, including finding the net against Iceland in September. He may see the International Break as a nice break from the pressures of playing at Old Trafford and he should get plenty of opportunities throughout this game. The former Everton man is a short price to net anytime in this game but more ambitious punters should look at Lukaku to Score 2 or More in this fixture and that’s available at a decent price of 27/10 with William Hill. The 25-year old’s goals often come against inferior opposition and he netted 11 times during qualification and on four occasions in the summer.

Romelu Lukaku to Score 2 or More is 27/10 with William Hill and is the third of our Belgium vs Iceland predictions

Belgium vs Iceland Betting Preview

Belgium are short-priced favourites for this clash and it’s unsurprising given the start that they’ve made to this tournament. They eased past this opposition and beat Switzerland 2-1 in their second Nations League match. They can be backed at 2/11 here and it’s hard to argue with that price. The draw is available at 6/1 and Iceland are 12/1 to cause a shock here.

Many punters will be looking to get involved on the handicap markets here and -1 is available at 8/13. -2 would have landed in the reverse fixture and that is available at 6/4.

Iceland were allowed just a single shot in that game back in September and Both Teams to Score? No will be popular at 8/15. It is 11/8 for both sides to find the back of the net in this clash. Over 2.5 Goals is also fairly short and is available at 8/15 whilst our tipster has opted for Over 3.5 Goals which is available at 6/4.

Romelu Lukaku leads the way in the goalscoring markets and he is 13/5 to net the first goal of the evening in this fixture. Eden Hazard netted a 29th minute penalty to get the ball rolling in the reverse fixture and he is 4/1 to break the deadlock again here. For Iceland, Alfred Finnbogason is 14/1 to find the net first in this match.
