Belgium vs Switzerland Predictions

The first of our Nations League predictions for Friday night is Belgium to Win and Over 2.5 Goals. Belgium were excellent at the World Cup and despite some reservations about R0berto Martinez’s tactical nous, he managed to guide his side to third place in Russia. They exited at the hands of eventual champions, France and it was a absence of Thomas Meunier which enforced a change of formation and could perhaps be partially attributed to their downfall. Since that defeat to France, they’ve not conceded a single goal in over 270 minutes of football with victories over England [third place play-off], Scotland and Iceland. They’ve looked extremely professionally and will be confident of continuing that run here. Eden Hazard is in stellar form and seems to have recaptured the form of two seasons ago whilst Dries Mertens is also off the mark for the season. Marouane Fellaini made a difference when entering the field against Newcastle at the weekend and he is also likely to have a huge say here. Switzerland are a solid and dependable outfit and they did well in Russia. They went unbeaten in the group stage before coming unstuck against Sweden. They rely on the creativity of Xherdan Shaqiri, whose minutes have been limited at Anfield this season and they should play their part in an entertaining game. They knocked six past Iceland and there is every chance that they could get on the score-sheet here. After a defensive masterclass in qualifying, they failed to keep a single clean sheet at the World Cup and they could struggle with Hazard and co. Belgium to Win and Over 2.5 Goals would have landed in the last meeting between these sides and it’s 21/20 with Ladbrokes to be repeated here. It is the first of our Belgium vs Switzerland predictions for tonight.

Belgium vs Switzerland Predictions – Under/Over Odds

There always seem to be plenty of goals when these sides meet and that pattern could continue here. Belgium have plenty of firepower and they will be keen to move above today’s opponents. Switzerland hit six against Iceland but this won’t be as easy for them. Belgium have been keeping clean sheets recently but the Swiss are going to pose more of a threat than either Scotland or Iceland. These two sides have met just seven times but there have been 24 goals during those fixtures so Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score looks a sensible option. It’s available at 11/10 with William Hill and is the second of our Belgium vs Switzerland predictions.

Belgium vs Switzerland Predictions – Anytime Goalscorer Odds

For the third of our Belgium vs Switzerland predictions, there is only one man in contention. Eden Hazard netted from the penalty spot in September against Iceland and he’s likely to cause plenty of problems for this Swiss defence. He wasn’t himself last season but he’s back to sparkling form and should be able to get on the score-sheet again here. He’s likely to be on penalty duty once again and he is third favourite in the betting at 13/10 with 888Sport to score anytime in this Nations League fixture. Eden Hazard anytime goalscorer is the third of our Belgium vs Switzerland betting tips.

Belgium vs Switzerland Match Betting Preview

Belgium Win – 1/2

Draw – 18/5

Switzerland Win – 6/1

[global_advert id=”37941″]

Unsurprisingly, Belgium start as odds-on favourites for this tie and a large part of that price is due to their success at the 2018 World Cup. Roberto Martinez’s side have a far bigger pool of players to choose from and they have some mercurial talents at their disposal. They have a decent record against this opposition but Switzerland will be dangerous having knocked six past Iceland last time out and their price has been backed in this week to 6/1. The draw could also be popular although Belgium would remain second in the group if it finished all-square. That’s available at 18/5.

Goals are expected in this fixture and Both Teams to Score? Yes is available at 8/11. Belgium have been keeping clean sheets lately but they can be got at. Switzerland didn’t keep a single shutout at the World Cup and they also lost to England during the last International Break. Over 2.5 Goals is short at 8/13 but will be extremely popular. Some punters may go one step further and take Over 3.5 Goals 13/8.

Xherdan Shaqiri rates as Switzerland’s biggest threat and he is quite-well fancied at 10/1 to open the scoring. Romelu Lukaku hasn’t been prolific at club level but he’s always a threat for his country and he’s the 3/1 favourite to break the deadlock here. The pick of our football tipster, Eden Hazard is available at 9/2.
