Two sides who were unable to reach the World Cup this summer will lock horns as they open their UEFA Nations League campaign this weekend. You can read our Northern Ireland vs Bosnia Herzegovina predictions here.
In recent years both sides have done well to qualify for major tournaments, but nether nation has set Europe alight. Could this all change with the start of the Nations League this season?
Whilst the Will Grigg flame continues to burn, there is another Northern Irish striker who has impressed of late. Kyle Lafferty joined Rangers this summer after making the move north from Edinburgh based Heart of Midlothian and already has three goals in competitive games this season. He has scored two goals in as many games for the club which he initially left in 2012 and he’ll be looking to add to his 20 international goals this week. Lafferty to score at any time is at 2/1 with Betfair and starts this week’s Northern Ireland vs Bosnia predictions.
Both sides are very, very evenly matched at the moment and, whilst Bosnia are the favourites across the bookmakers, we think that home advantage alongside the abundance of Premier League experience should help the hosts. It will be a tough task to keep Bosnia’s top players quiet but the Northern Irish squad is capable. A draw at full time is being priced at 9/5 by BoyleSports.
We have talked about the attacking players on show already and this football betting tip follows on from this. Despite the sides usually not offering a huge amount when pushing forward due to their tactical set ups, both squads are attack-heavy and there could be a few goals at impressive odds. Edin Dzeko has 52 goals in 93 games for Bosnia and he remains hungry for goals after an impressive 2017-18 season in Rome. Over 2.5 goals can be found at 2/1 with William Hill.

Boss Michael O’Neil said that he was pleased with the “freshness” of his squad to the BBC this week and he’s looking forward to the games. Lafferty is set to lead the line after his impressive recent form and O’Neil has a hugely experienced midfield to choose from.
There have been a couple of big names kept out of the current Bosnia squad including goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. Arsenal’s Sead Kolasinac is also not included through injury to the full back. Recent retirements have also altered the side with Lazio’s Senad Lulic and Vedad Ibisevic of Hertha Berlin hanging up their boots on the international stage in recent months.
