Poland vs Portugal Predictions

Our Nations League predictions continue on Thursday with Poland vs Portugal and both sides arrive here off the back of a decent results in their opening contests. The Euro 2016 winners arrive in Chorzow without their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo although the Juventus player was also absent for their 1-0 victory over a below-par Italy side last month. Poland have been underwhelming over the past twelve months although they did hold the Azzurri to a 1-1 draw. Following that stalemate, they required a late strike from Matieusz Klich to rescue something in an International friendly against the Republic of Ireland. Robert Lewandowski will make his 100th appearance for his country but the usually-prolific striker is struggling of late. He was ineffectual at the World Cup and his Bayern side are currently under-performing in the Bundesliga. Portugal are unbeaten in 16 of their last 18 games and Fernando Santos’ side are incredibly frustrating to play against. They have been priced up as the favourites for this tie and we expect them to justify this. Although the Poles have only lost two of their last six in all competitions, they’ve also only won twice and one of those victories came against Lithuania in an International friendly. The last three meetings between this pair have ended all square and there is always very little between them. It could be close but Portugal should edge it and they can be backed at 17/10 with Bet365. This is a standout price and it’s the first of our Poland vs Portugal predictions.

Poland vs Portugal Predictions – Under/Over Odds

Portugal’s games don’t tend to yield many goals and there was a total of three during their two matches in September. They kept Italy off the score-sheet and are defensively robust. Their bonkers 3-3 draw in the Iberian derby was one of the few times that their back-line has looks shaky but they soon regained their composure after that. Admittedly, they were playing weaker sides during their World Cup Qualification matches but they only shipped four goals and two of those came on the road against Switzerland. Poland only managed two goals at the 2018 World Cup and began their Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw. It may be a short price but Under 2.5 Goals looks a decent option here and it’s available at 8/13 with Bet Victor. We are expecting a low-scoring affair so it’s the second of our Poland vs Portugal predictions for Thursday evening.

Poland vs Portugal Predictions – Anytime Goalscorer Odds

With Ronaldo not featuring in Chorzow, goalscoring responsibility is likely to fall on the shoulders of Andre Silva. The on-loan Sevilla man has eight goals this season and that total includes his winner against Italy during the last round of fixtures. His side are flying high in La Liga and he is likely to arrive here full of confidence. He doesn’t mind the big occasions having netted twice against Real Madrid this campaign and I think he can find the net here. Potentially, he could net back-too-back winners for his country and he looks a decent enough price at 47/20 with 888Sport and is the third of our Poland vs Portugal predictions.

Poland vs Portugal Match Betting Preview

Poland Win – 19/10

Draw – 11/5

Portugal Win – 17/10

[global_advert id=”37941″]

Portugal are narrow favourites for this tie and that makes sense given Poland’s recent woes. They were hugely underwhelming at the World Cup but they do have some decent players in their squad and many will be keen to back them at 19/10. Portugal are always tough to break down and even without Cristiano Ronaldo, they are a quality outfit. They can be backed at 17/10 and are likely to be included in many Thursday night accumulator bets The last three meetings between these sides have ended all-square and neither will want to slip up so early in this competition. The draw is available at 11/5.

Our football tipster is expecting a low-scoring game but there are plenty of options if you fancy both sides could get on the score-sheet. Both Teams to Score? Yes is a decent price at 10/11 for those who fancy an end-to-end contest. Over 2.5 Goals is 13/10 whilst Over 3.5 Goals is 10/3.

A 1-1 draw is the shortest price according to the betting and it’s available at 5/1. It would be a repeat of their last meeting. Portugal won 1-0 against Italy and it’s 6/1 for them to pick up the same result here.

Although out-of-form, Robert Lewandowski is the favourite in the first goalscorer market and can be backed at 3/1. Andre Silva is next in the betting at 5/1. It’s 13/2 for there to be no goalscorer at all.
