Newcastle vs Arsenal Preview

It’s been a summer of change for each of these Premier League sides. Newcastle fans have cause for concern with their Champions League winning manager, Rafa Benitez, departing for China. The Spaniard remained patient with the Newcastle board, but certain assurances weren’t made which could prove costly this season. His replacement caused further unrest in the Newcastle fanbase. The appointment of former Sunderland boss, Steve Bruce was greeted with almost universal disdain.

With the new season finally here, rumours of Kylian Mbappe have not aged well. Newcastle have failed to secure the signature of their top scorer, Solomon Rondon and have sold their second highest scorer, Ayoze Perez. This left The Magpies with centre back, Fabian Schar (3), as their next highest scorer. The signing of Joelinton may go some way to accommodating for these losses but his goalscoring record is far from spectacular.

It’s been a far cheerier picture at The Emirates this summer. After a difficult start, The Gunners have ended the window with six new signings and have address key problem areas in their squad. The signing of Nicholas Pépé may be the standout buy for Arsenal fans, but Kieran Tierney and David Luiz represent much needed defensive improvement.

Newcastle vs Arsenal Betting Tips

The loss of Rafa Benitez is nothing short of calamitous for Newcastle. The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Chelsea boss far exceeded expectation with a below par squad. With Steve Bruce at the helm, expect Newcastle to struggle. Arsenal’s new signings will take time to gel, but they will be too strong for Newcastle when the two sides meet this weekend.

A front three of Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pépé should cause Newcastle all sorts of problems. New boy, Pépé hit 22 in 38 Ligue matches last season and has demonstrated his serious goal threat. He is expected to make the step up to the Premier League and is well priced at 11/8 to bag a goal on his debut.

Arsenal could easily run riot on Tyneside but a conservative over 2.5 goals in the game looks to be good value at 7/10.
