Northern Ireland v Romania predictions and football betting tips for this weekend’s Euro 2016 qualifying clash.
There's a top of the table clash in Euro 2016 Group F qualifying as Northern Ireland welcome an in-form Romania side to Windsor Park. The match is live on Sky Sports at 19:45 and here are our match predictions and betting tips.
With all the home nations well in the hunt for a place and the European Championships next summer, it is perhaps Northern Ireland's lofty position that is the most surprising. Michael O’Neil’s men were handed a very competitive group with the likes of Romania, Hungary and Greece all vying for the two automatic qualifying positions. They have, however, picked up an impressive four wins from five and given themselves an excellent chance of a spot in the final 24.
Their opponents Romania are not the force of old, but are still likely to make formidable opposition on Saturday evening. The Romanians are in blistering form at the moment and are unbeaten in their last nine matches. Furthermore, Anghel Iordănescu's team have won seven of those games, conceding only two goals in the process. A win in Belfast would give them a comfortable four point cushion at the top of the table and all but guarantee qualification for Euro 2016.
Based on form and the fact Romania beat Northern Ireland 2-0 in the corresponding match a few months ago, you would have to agree with their favourites tag. Nevertheless, Romania don't score a lot of goals, in fact they haven't scored more than twice in a game for their last fifteen matches. If Northern Ireland can get on the scoresheet, there's every chance they can take something away from the game. With this in mind, I'm pushing towards the draw at 11/5 with Bet365.
Our first Northern Ireland v Romania betting tip is for the match to end a draw, the best odds are 11/5 with Bet365 where you can also watch a live stream of the game.
Heading to the under/over goals market for our next football betting tip this weekend and Saturday's clash should be a nailed on contender for under 2.5 goals. 13 of Romania's last 15 have been under 2.5, as well as 12 or Northern Ireland’s last 13. The problem is that the best price you're going to get on that is a measly 1/2, so it's probably not worth the risk. However, have a punt on under 1.5 goals instead at 13/8 with Coral. Although you never know with football, all the stats are pointing towards a low scoring affair at Windsor Park.
Our second Northern Ireland v Romania prediction is for under 1/.5 goals at odds of 13/8 with Coral.
Finally, for a little dip into the goalscoring market, and Kyle Lafferty is in a real purple patch at the moment having scored five times already in the qualifiers. Due to the likelihood that goals could be few and far between, Lafferty's recent strike rate makes an absolute mockery of his 29/10 odds with Bet Victor. Therefore, back the Norwich man to score anytime in the match.
Our final Northern Ireland v Romania betting tip for this weekend is Kyle Lafferty to score anytime at 29/10 with Bet Victor.
