Norwich vs Southampton Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Norwich are currently six points adrift with just nine left to play, having only won five all season. Southampton come into this tie with safety virtually assured thanks to a good run of form through December and January.

Norwich Form

Norwich have won just twice since the start of December. Their only wins were 1-0 victories against Bournemouth and, most recently, Leicester. This poor run has left the Canaries bottom of the league, six points from safety.

Their early season promise never materialised into points, giving Daniel Farke an uphill task for the remainder of the campaign.

Norwich have scored just 25 goals in 29 games, the worst attacking output in the league. Their defence has not fared much better, conceding 52, the second-worst tally after Aston Villa.

Norwich Team News

Norwich will have virtually all first-team players to call upon as Timm Klose, Christoph Zimmermann, Grant Hanley, and Ben Godfrey make their returns from injury.

Southampton Form

Southampton lost four of their last five league games before the enforced break. Thankfully for Saints fans their side are likely to be clear of any trouble after a strong midseason run.

They have a mixed record against sides below them in the table, winning five and losing three of their eight games. One of those five wins was their 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture back in December.

Danny Ings scored just once in Southampton’s final seven games before lockdown, going off the boil as the season drew to a halt. Only four players have outscored the former Liverpool man so far this season.

Norwich vs Southampton Head to Head

Southampton have edged their overall battle with Norwich, winning 50 times, drawing 38 and losing 40. That is helped in part to their strong recent record in which the Saints have only lost two of the previous 14 meetings.

Norwich vs Southampton Odds

  • Norwich are priced at 21/10 to win
  • A draw is priced at 13/5
  • Southampton are 23/20 to take all three points

Norwich vs Southampton Prediction

Norwich will have benefitted from the break in action, allowing important squad members to return to fitness. Farke’s side will be highly motivated and began the season strongly the first time around.

Southampton’s form before lockdown suggests they have taken their foot off the gas somewhat and could be in for a surprise.

Norwich vs Southampton Stats

  • Southampton and Norwich have each conceded 52 league goals, the joint second-worst tally
  • Southampton have scored just four goals from their last five fixtures
  • Norwich have scored just once in their last five games

Norwich vs Southampton Betting Tips

There wasn’t a lot to separate these two in their reverse fixture and that is likely to be the case once again. Todd Cantwell, Emi Buendia, and Teemu Pukki could help Norwich grab a vital three points.

Best Bet: Norwich to Win – 21/10 at bet365.

Correct Score Tip: Norwich to Win 2-1 – 12/1 at bet365.
