Osasuna vs Real Madrid Match Prediction and Betting Tips
This Saturday (19:00) sees struggling Osasuna host free scoring Real Madrid. Now, looking at the table you would think 3rd placed Madrid vs 20th placed Osasuna would be a foregone conclusion…right?… Maybe not. Before you begin to throw your money at an away win, let us consider some key features.
Madrid have scored 45 goals this season so far. They have conceded 20, which is interestingly the same number of goals as their opposition. Given the league standings of the two teams, Madrid's apparent defensive frailties are a concern.
Away from home, Madrid have played 9 but won only 4,and, even more concerning, have lost 4. However, Madrid have scored 17 goals away from home – over 2 per game. However, they have conceded 12/20 goals away, just over a goal a game.
Compare this to Osasuna's home form. They have played 9, winning only 2 and losing 4. You would think that is terrible form – and it is concerning – however, they have lost each game by a single goal. Compare this to the fact they have only conceded 20 in total – the same as Madrid. Out of those 20 goals conceded, only 7 have been conceded at home, but only 8 have been scored, less than 1 goal per home game. What is certain is that Osasuna play a cautious game at home and are difficult to break down. They are also clearly far better in the first half of home games, where they are unbeaten and have only conceded 1, scoring just 3. That said, they tend to go in at the break level, 7 times in total
However, in the second half, Osasuna appear to lose their way. They are bottom of the home form table in the second half, where they have only gone on in the 2nd half to win once. They have also lost the 2nd half at home 4 times. Again, this seems poor form but they do remain tight – scoring 5 goals in home games in the 2nd half and conceding only 6.
Finally lets look at the form table. In the last 6 games at home, Osasuna have won 1 but lost 3, conceding only 4 and scoring 2. It's the 2nd half where the concern lies, conceding 75% of total away goals in the last 6 games in the 2nd half
Contrast this to Madrid who have In the last 6 games away from home won 3 but lost 2. This accounts for 50% of total away losses which indicates a loss of form away of late. Madrid have conceded 7 in this time, which is 75% of total away goals conceded. This could be a concern. Madrid though have scored 14 which is over 2.3 goals per away game based on the last 6. Can Osasuna capitalise on these Defensive frailties?? As explained earlier, they are currently scoring 1 goal at home every 3 games! (2 in the last 6)
