Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon predictions and League One betting tips for this weekend’s League One match live on Sky Sports including the best odds for each bet.

There’s a double header from League One on Sunday and the first of those comes from the Kassam Stadium as Oxford host AFC Wimbledon. We’ve got the best bets for the 12:15 kick off.

Both of these sides come into this game in reasonable form. The hosts Oxford have lost just once in the last five games and remain undefeated here this season. In five home matches, they’ve won three and drawn two. They’re very hard to beat in front of their own fans although they’ve only played sides below them in the table. They continue that trend as they host an AFC Wimbledon side who have improved in recent weeks. Neal Ardley’s side took a while to find their feet at this level with just two points from their first five league games, but they’ve turned that around and have climbed the table thanks to three wins in their last six and a single defeat in that time. Being difficult to beat was one of their traits from their promotion winning season and that’s quickly becoming a common theme once again.

Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon Betting Predictions

Oxford haven’t lost here this season whilst AFC Wimbledon don’t lose often. Just a single loss for the away side came against in-form Sheffield United. The Wombles have drawn three of their last four away matches and that run could continue here. These sides are quite evenly matched so the draw is my first Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon betting tip.

Both Teams to Score Prediction

Goals tend to follow AFC Wimbledon around this season so my next football tip is for both teams to score. They recently drew 2-2 at the Ricoh against Coventry. They kept their first clean sheet this season against Gillingham last weekend in a 2-0 victory. At the Kassam, they are liable to concede. Oxford have only conceded three home goals in five home matches, but Wimbledon have enough firepower to find a way past them.

Anytime Goalscorer Tips

Chris Maguire has a knack of scoring at home and that’s why he’s our next Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon prediction this weekend. He scored Oxford’s only goal in their recent 1-1 draw here with Charlton and he netted both goals in the 2-0 win against Swindon. He also found the net against Peterborough and is their penalty taker.

Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon Team News

Summer signing Curtis Nelson is fit again and ready for action in this game. He may have to sit on the bench though as he works his way back into the team. Charlie Raglan and Chey Dunkley look set to continue as the two centre backs in the side.

Alex MacDonald was sent off in the cup in midweek, but will serve his suspension in that competition, so will be able to play here.

AFC Wimbledon suffered a couple of injuries in their victory in the cup in midweek with both Jake Reeves and Dean Parrett picking up knocks.

If the pair can’t make it in time, Tom Beere and Dannie Bulman are likely to deputise.

Tyrone Barnett put in a terrific performance against Plymouth in midweek and could get an extended run in the side.

Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon Head to Head

These two sides were both promoted from League Two last season and met twice during the campaign. Oxford came out on top in both encounters winning 2-1 at Kingsmeadow and 1-0 here.

AFC Wimbledon are looking for their first ever victory over Oxford. They’ve only ever picked up two points against this opposition.

Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon Betting Odds

Given their superb home form this season, it’s no surprise to see Oxford favourites for this match. Even money or 11/10 are the prices generally available for a home win. AFC Wimbledon can be backed at 14/5 to be the first side to take all three points back from the Kassam this season.

Goals are clearly fancied with the Both Teams to Score? Yes being significantly shorter than No. Whilst it’s three Oxford players who lead the way in the goalscorer markets with Wes Thomas, Kane Hemmings and our tip Chris Maguire making up the top three.
