Peterborough vs Sunderland Preview

Posh started the season with a 3-1 defeat to Fleetwood, but they have sufficiently recovered, and have looked far more balanced over the last couple of weeks. They’ve moved up to tenth, and are unbeaten in three matches. They’ve also scored 2+ goals in each of those games, and they’ll be hoping to make it four in a row on Saturday afternoon. The front two of Ivan Toney and Mo Eisa are finally clicking, and both of them have 4+ goals already this campaign. Darren Ferguson will be hoping his free-scoring side can make it a hat-trick of victories, although this is arguably their hardest game to date. They held Ipswich to a 2-2 here at London Road, and they will fancy their chances of unlocking a Sunderland defence which hasn’t kept a clean sheet yet this season. Fergsuon has spoken of his intention to make Posh the best side in the division, and beating the Black Cats on Saturday would certainly back up this bold statement. Peterborough are hoping to sign another midfielder before the transfer deadline, but the new recruit is unlikely to feature in this game.

Sunderland remain unbeaten this season, and Jack Ross’ side appear to taking small steps forward. Last season, too many draws were proving problematic, but the Black Cats have won each of their last three matches, and sit inside the play-off positions. Although they look better in the final third, they still haven’t kept a clean sheet, and that is something that needs rectifying. It’s been ten months since the Black Cats last won four games in a row, but they will hoping to continue their superb sequence of results on Saturday afternoon. They do have a good record against Posh, and have netted in each of their nine meetings with today’s opponents. They overcame a plucky Rochdale side on their travels ten days ago, and they’ll be hoping to put in a similar performance in Cambridgeshire. Chris Maguire has impressed so far this season, and he sits alongside the aforementioned Toney and Eisa on 4+ goals for the campaign.

Peterborough vs Sunderland Betting Tips

This is a tough game to call on the 1X2 market, so it could be best to simply back goals. There’s been 10 goals in Sunderland’s last three League One matches, whilst Posh have netted nine times already this campaign. Both sides have formidable offensive power in the final third, and we could see the likes of Marcus Maddison and Aidan McGeady steal the show with fine individual performances. Over 2.5 Goals is priced at 4/5 for this game, and this looks a superb odds-on selection for Saturday’s meeting at London Road.

Mo Eisa is very much a confidence player, and he has now netted in three consecutive games. The former Cheltenham man is a deadly finisher, and his hot streak could continue on Saturday. He scored twice at MK Dons last weekend, and could add to his tally against a shaky Sunderland defence. He’s 2/1 to score in this one.
