Salford City v Notts County Betting Tips and Predictions

Salford City v Notts County predictions and football betting tips for the FA Cup match on Friday 6th November including the three best bets.

The first round of the FA Cup takes place this weekend, and League Two's Notts County will hope to avoid being the first major casualty on the fixture list as they travel to Salford City on Friday evening. The match is live on BBC 2 at 8pm and here are our match predictions and betting tips.

Salford City v Notts County Predictions

Needless to say, Salford City of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League have pulled an absolute peach out of the hat for the first round of the FA Cup, as they face off against a side that plies their trade three divisions above themselves. As many of you will be aware, Salford City have several high-profile shareholders with the likes of Manchester United legends Scholes and Giggs both owning a stake in the club. Something that is likely to add some spice to an already cracking draw.

Irrespective of the 'romance' of the FA Cup, Salford City do actually head into the match in fantastic form following five wins and a draw in their last six matches. However, the vast majority of their excellent results this season have come on the road, with their home form being of particular concern – Salford have only managed six points from seven matches at Moor Lane, which is the third worst record in their division.

Opponents Notts County are having a rather underwhelming campaign so far in League Two. The Magpies are a notoriously inconsistent side to predict, but have managed to go the last four games unbeaten and currently sit comfortably above the relegation zone in fifteenth place.

Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of this run has been their recent defensive record. County were haemorrhaging goals earlier in the season but have now only conceded twice in the last four matches. However, with this being the FA Cup, it's often wise to take form with a large pinch of salt.

Heading into the clash and Salford City are fetching a decent price of 4/1 to see off their opponents in 90 minutes. Notts County are available at a far shorter 3/4, with the draw available at 3/1.

This is a really tough one to call for my FA Cup betting tips as the FA Cup is well-known for throwing up all manner of results in the earlier rounds. My one cause for concern about Salford's chances has to be their dire home form. They simply won't be able to play to that level and expect to turn over a League Two side. Whilst I can see them making it onto the scoresheet, I fancy Notts County to have too much for them on the night.

With this in mind, my first Salford City v Notts County betting tip is for Notts County to win and both teams to score at 12/5 with William Hill.

Moving over to the goalscoring market and Notts County forward Jon Stead has some proven pedigree in the FA Cup and should be worth keeping an eye on ahead of the clash. For those that remember, Stead played a huge part in Bradford's shock win over Chelsea in last season's competition and Betfred are offering 7/4 on Stead to score anytime in the match.

My second Salford City v Notts County betting tip is for John Stead to score anytime, the best odds are 7/4 with Betfred.
