Over 2.5 Goals

Leeds vs Swansea

This should be a superb game of football with two of the early season pace-setters meeting at Elland Road. Swansea’s much-changed side smashed six past Cambridge in midweek, and they have scored three goals in each of their last three Championship encounters. Steve Cooper has done a superb job so far, and he’s successfully integrated Borja Baston back into the side. Four of their opening five games have seen Over 2.5 Goals land, and although they have kept two clean sheets, they survived a missed penalty against Derby, and were never really threatened against Birmingham last weekend. Leeds are also firing on all cylinders, and despite their midweek cup exit, they looked superb against Stoke at the Bet365 seven days ago. Leeds beat Brentford 1-0 during their last match here, but the Bees are a very low-scoring side this season, and this game should be far more open.

Nottingham Forest vs Preston

Forest got off to an inauspicious start, but they have significantly improved over the last few weeks. Sabri Lamouchi’s men have found their shooting boots over the last fortnight, and they’ve been helped by the prolific Lewis Grabban. The striker, who wasn’t fancied by previous boss Martin O’Neill, has had just six shots so far this season, but has managed four goals, and the team are creating plenty of chances for him. Joao Carvalho is back in contention for this weekend’s game, but he may struggle to displace any of the side who beat Fulham at Craven Cottage last weekend. Preston are less impressive away from home, and Alex Neil’s men have lost both of their games on the road. They were downed 3-2 by Swansea two weeks, and have netted seven times in their last three matches. They also have a number of different goalscorers in their side, all of whom may chip in here. This should be an entertaining watch between two forward-thinking sides.

Peterborough vs Sunderland

Posh have found their shooting boots in recent weeks, and they have a formidable front two in Mo Eisa and Ivan Toney, both of whom have scored four goals already this campaign. Marcus Maddison was back to his imperious best last weekend, as Darren Ferguson’s men raced into a four-goal lead against MK Dons. It was a eye-catching performance which bodes well for this home tie with high-flying Sunderland. The Black Cats put three past Burnley in midweek, and they swept aside AFC Wimbledon last weekend. Jack Ross’ side are looking more assured in the final third this season, and even Will Grigg has been amongst the goals. They should play their part in this entertaining tie. Sunderland have netted in each of their last nine meetings with Peterborough, and it’s hard to imagine this game ending 0-0.

Crawley Town vs Cheltenham

Crawley made the headlines in midweek with a 1-0 victory over Premier League side Norwich. The Canaries were dumped out of the competition, and despite dominating throughout the 90 minutes, they were unable to find a way through. The Red Devils have been far from watertight so far in League Two, and they have kept just a single clean sheet so far. In their last home match, they conceded twice to Crewe, and Cheltenham have plenty of firepower. The Robins are very strong at home, but they don’t always travel well. So far, they’ve failed to net on the road, but they seem to be clicking in the final third, and they will fancy their chances of getting their first away goal of the season. The hosts will be on cloud 9, and there should be a brilliant atmosphere around the stadium – that should lead to a terrific game.
