Scotland v Northern Ireland Betting Preview and Football Tips

Free football betting tips and preview for Scotland v Northern Ireland on Tuesday 24th March 2015 in the International Friendly ahead of the latest round of Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Hampden Park hosts the International Friendly between Scotland and Northern Ireland on Wednesday night and it should be an interesting match as both teams have been playing well of late. Scotland lost to England in their last friendly, but they put up a good fight and despite the withdrawal of Ross McCormack, they have a decent pool of players to choose from for this encounter. Northern Ireland impressively beat Greece not so long ago and although they are no match for the bigger guns they often come up against, they always give their all and are becoming increasingly difficult to beat.

Scotland v Northern Ireland Betting Preview

For Northern Ireland, they will see it as a warm up for their qualifier with Finland on Monday and they may test out various formations and players ahead of the important clash, a fixture which is realistically winnable.

Meanwhile, Scotland have their easiest test to come when they face Gibraltar at home on Sunday, but Gordon Strachan won’t be taking it easy. The last time these teams met, it was the Scots who emerged 3-0 winners and I am predicting them winning again, but by a much narrower margin.

Scotland to win by 1 goal is a tempting 5/2 with Sky Bet and I can see them having just a touch too much quality for Michael O’Neil’s side.

For a bet on Scotland v Northern Ireland go with Scotland to win by 1 goal, the odds for this tip are 5/2 with Sky Bet.

Aside from the 3-0 thumping back in 2011, these two teams have traditionally dished up a cagey affair whenever they’ve met and I can see similar happening here. Northern Ireland sit second in their group and they have been playing well and seen few goals put past them during this time. Only Romania sit above them and I can see both sides providing a solid defensive base.

The fact that the away side only put 2 past Faroe Islands, who are traditionally the whipping boys of any group, shows that they haven’t got as much firepower as they would probably like.

Our next betting tip for Tuesday’s International friendly is Under 2.5 goals at odds of 11/17 with Ladbrokes.

One player who has the knack of popping up in the right place at the right time is Steven Naismith and the industrious Scot is a talented performer. He may hold the key to unlocking the Northern Irish defence which could see Man Utd centre-back Paddy McNair making an appearance. The Everton midfielder is likely to get a game, or at least part of a game, so he would be a good bet for anytime goalscorer.

Have a bet on Steven Naismith to score anytime in Scotland v Northern Ireland and the odds are 21/20 with Bet365.
