Sheffield United vs Ipswich Betting Tips and Predictions

Sheff United predictions

Sheffield United vs Ipswich betting tips, predictions and match preview for Saturday’s crucial Championship fixture on Saturday evening. The Blades could potentially go top of the Championship table with three points against already relegated Ipswich. With Norwich playing later on, Chris Wilder’s side have the opportunity to put the pressure on the Canaries, and they will fancy their chances of coming through this test with flying colours.

It was a terrific Easter weekend for Sheffield United, and the Blades will be looking to continue that winning form on Saturday night. They are extremely close to securing their place in the top flight next season, and the South Yorkshire outfit have been dealt a kind fixture here. However, they have slipped up against this opposition previously, and they will undoubtedly be feeling the pressure ahead of this one. Having said that, Ipswich have long since departed the division, and although they will resist for long periods of this game, they are likely to come up short.

Sheffield United vs Ipswich Preview and Betting Odds

The Blades weren’t widely tipped up for promotion this season, but they’ve exceeded expectations, and Chris Wilder should be given plenty of plaudits for the job he has done with his unfashionable squad.

They may have four quality strikers in the their squad, and a number of midfield schemers, but it’s their rock-solid defence which has been the bedrock of their success in 2018-19. They have the joint best back-line in the division, conceding just 39 goals in total, the same number as defensive-minded Middlesbrough.

They have the joint best defence on the road this campaign, whilst only the aforementioned Teessiders have conceded fewer home goals.

Despite booking their place in League One, Ipswich do not have the worst away defence in the league, with Blackburn conceding a whopping 46 times on their travels this season, two more than the Tractor Boys.

Paul Lambert’s side rallied for a brief period, but too many draws put pay to their chances of survival. They picked up points at Ashton Gate, the DW Stadium and at the Hawthornes, but they’ve since slumped to 4-0 and 2-0 defeats on their travels.

Sheffield United have kept ten clean sheets in 13 outings, and I fancy their chances of keeping the visitors off the scoresheet here. It’s a relatively short price, but it’s hard to see them being breached here.

Ipswich couldn’t find a way past the Bees or PNE in recent weeks on their travels, and Sheffield United will be typically well-organised here.

Ipswich – 18/1

Sheffield United vs Ipswich Betting Tips

There are so many potential goalscorers in this game, with many Blades players in decent form recently. David McGoldrick has been excellent in recent weeks, but he is understandably short in the anytime goalscorer market.

Enda Stevens has been popping up with some important goals lately, and the full-back is a decent price to notch again here. The 28-year old didn’t find the net until April 10th, but he’s since bagged three goals in four games, and he’s ending the season on a high.

At around 8/1, it is hugely tempting to back him again in this one.

Sheffield United’s tactics allow their defensive players to get forward at regular intervals, and they are often allowed space and time to shoot. Enda Stevens has certainly been a beneficiary of that fluid formation, and he has every chance of continuing his productive spell against the Tractor Boys.

The third of our Sheffield United vs Ipswich betting tips is Enda Stevens to Score Anytime. He is a standout 8/1 with Betfair to notch his fourth goal of the season.

Sheffield United vs Ipswich Prediction – Sheffield United to Win and Under 3.5 Goals – Evens with Ladbrokes

There are bound to be some nerves around Bramall Lane on Saturday night, and although they will be expected to win this one, Ipswich won’t make it easy for the Blades.

The hosts have won six of the last nine in the Championship and three of those victories have been by a 2-0 scoreline. The other wins have been 1-0 and 3-0, so they aren’t blowing away teams in recent weeks.

Another comfortable success is expected here, and the 2-0 or 3-0 scorelines look realistic options for correct score backers.

With Ipswich not expected to contribute here, fewer than four goals are anticipated, and Sheffield United Win and Under 3.5 Goals is a great way of boosting the price on the Blades here. With Wilder’s men priced at 1/6 to collect three points in this tie, it’s worth looking at them to do it comfortably, but not overwhelmingly so.
