Spain vs Bosnia Herzogovina Predictions

These two sides have met on seven occasions since 2000 with Bosnia still yet to win one. Spain, now headed up by ex-Barcelona manager and player Luis Enrique, have become something of an enigma in recent years. Still seemingly trying to adopt the possession-style of football for which they received worldwide acclaim, there is a suggestion that Spain no longer have the same quality of player they once had to implement the system.

You can expect Bosnia to be an easier test than World Cup finalists Croatia were in midweek but that alone doesn’t necessarily translate into a home win. With that said, I think Spain will impose themselves on their Balkan visitors early on and could dominate should they establish an early lead. That belief has prompted me to trawl the half-time/full-time market where I think Spain/Spain looks good value. You can get 11/10 with Ladbrokes on this selection if you’re quick which looks massive at odds-against.

Spain vs Bosnia Herzogovina Clean Sheet Prediction

Before Spain’s game against Croatia on Thursday, the 2010 World Champions had conceded in games against Portugal, Morocco, Russia, Wales and England (twice) – and all since June. Suggestions that Spain are solid at the back are therefore easily debunked and with the likes of Edin Dzeko expected to test their backline, you can be fairly confident that a degree of vulnerability will be further exposed.

Based on the frequency with which they have conceded of late, I’m liking the look of Spain not keeping a clean sheet when they entertain Bosnia. Paddy Power are offering even money on Spain shipping at least once goal on Sunday which looks lengthy when considering the above.

Spain vs Bosnia Herzogovina Goalscorer Prediction

Many expected Alvaro Morata to take the Premier League by storm when he joined Chelsea last season but for one reason or another, that has yet to happen. It would be unfair to suggest the 26-year-old has been an abject failure however, with 16 goals in 41 appearances not too far away from being considered a decent return.

An injury sustained by Diego Costa have increased the chances of Morata starting on Sunday, and you wouldn’t back against him getting a goal. The Madrid-born hitman averages a return of better than a goal every other appearance in the red shirt of Spain, which is respectable. Coral are offering 5/4 on him popping up at some point against Bosnia which is difficult to overlook.

Spain vs Bosnia Herzogovina Preview

Bosnia haven’t lost a game since February and are unbeaten in their last eight matches – keeping six clean sheets during that run. Sunday’s fixture provides them with their sternest test of the season and their excellent form obviously hasn’t done too much to make bookmakers sit up and take notice.

Spain are rightly favourites for this despite slipping up a few times in 2018. It’s difficult to gauge how seriously each country will take this one with Nations League fixtures undoubtedly the priority during this international break. With that said, you can’t argue with the depth of talent included in Spain’s squad and you would expect there to be more than enough within it to see off a team ranked below the likes of Iran in the FIFA World Rankings.
