The Britannia Stadium plays host to Boxing Day’s late kick-off between Stoke City and Liverpool, in what may not be the prettiest game of football on the box over the festive period. Nevertheless it is likely to be an intense affair as both clubs are level on points somewhere in the middle of the Premier League table.
Liverpool start as 13/10 favourites to win the match, whilst a Stoke win or a draw are both priced at 9/4. Odds quoted are available with Bet365.

Stoke last tasted league defeat on 3rd November when they lost 1-0 away to Norwich. Since then The Potters have on an eight game unbeaten streak, winning four and drawing four. Seven of these last eight games have gone under 2.5 goals and five clean sheets have been kept by Tony Pulis’ men. The Britannia continues to be a fortress for Stoke who are now unbeaten in 15 home league matches.
Liverpool have won only two of their eight away matches in the Premier League this season, and tellingly, they have kept only one clean sheet in those eight games. However Brendan Rodgers will have his players believe that if they can reproduce against Stoke a performance similar to the one that saw Fulham swept aside at Anfield at the weekend, then they might have a chance of ending Stoke’s proud unbeaten home record. Personally though, I don’t see that happening.
I don’t see this match being a classic, with the most likely outcome a low-scoring draw. Under 2.5 goals looks likely based on the statistics, although at 3/5 the price is a bit underwhelming. Instead I would rather take a punt on the 1-1 correct score at 5/1.
