Stuttgart v Bayern Munich Preview and Match Prediction

On paper this looks like it could well be a walkover for the Bavarian powerhouse that is Bayern Munich and it's hard to see VfB Stuttgart getting anything out of this other than a proper hiding.

If you want to go for the straight win, then Bwin are offering the best odds at the time of writing, 9/20.

The Head to Head record for this fixture sees Bayern holding the upper hand, but over the previous 5 seasons FC Hollywood have only managed 2 wins over The Swabians, their record at Stuttgart is 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. The corresponding away match for Stuttgart is quite the opposite though, The Swabians do not like travelling to Bayern's Allianz Arena and have only won once in their previous six visits there. They even conceded six goals from 6 different Bayern players as the Bavarians ripped them to shreds earlier this season. Interestingly, they had scored the opening goal though. Maybe they'll think twice about scoring first in the Allianz next season. Can Stuttgart get some revenge for that demolition?

Stuttgart's season so far has been totally average, there's no fear of them being relegated, but if they could actually get a string of results going their way they could scrape into the Champions League places. It's hard to see it happening though. They are heavily dependent on the Bosnian striker Vedad Ibisevic, 10 goals in 15 apps, and thankfully he is set to return following a suspension. However, they will be missing some vital players. Defender Arthur Boka is at the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast, young Japanese defender Gotoku Sakai is serving a suspension and Danish midfielder Kvist Jørgensen. But they have plenty of cover for midfield for Jørgensen. They have brought in a Wolfsburg defender on loan in an attempt to bolster their defence, 25 year old Brazilian Felipe Lopes. But against the likes of Bayern you cannot see them keeping Bayern at bay for 90 minutes.

Bayern on the other hand will only be missing one first team player, German international Holger Badstuber. But Bayern have more than enough cover from the bench and Brazilian Rafinha will more than likely replace Badstuber.

From the last 5 away games, Bayern have been winning at half time, scoring 1 in the previous 4 and 2 in the first of those five games. They are 19/20 to be winning at half-time with BetGun. Stuttgart have conceded in 4/6 previous home matches before half time, however, from their previous 8 home games they've won three and draw four at half-time.

At first glance you would expect the match to easily go over 2.5 goals, and while 6/8 previous home Stuttgart games have gone overs, only 3/8 away Bayern games have. Bayern have 7/8 clean sheets on the road, 12/18 in total, and while they love scoring, they hate to concede. Stuttgart have only 5 cleans sheets from 18 games this season and only 1/8 at home. It's been a long time since they haven't scored at home, but with Bayern's strong defence and Ibisevic returning rusty from a suspension picked up before the winter beak this bet offers great value. Both Teams to Score – No is 10/11 with Bet365.  And Bayern to win to nil is a massive 11/8 on Bet365 too.
