Sutton United vs Leyton Orient betting tips

Sutton v Tranmere betting tips and predictions for this weekend’s live National League Conference fixture and the best odds for each selection.

There’s televised action from the National League as Tranmere visit Sutton United on Saturday 17th September. We’ve got the best bets for the match and reasons for each tip.

Sutton vs Tranmere Preview

Sutton United

After ten games of the National League season, Sutton United sit 15th in the table, but they’ve struggled of late. Four defeats in five does not breed confidence and manager Paul Doswell branded the 1-2 home defeat to Braintree as ‘damaging’.

He wasn’t too worried about back to back defeats on the road, losing 1-0 to both Gateshead and Wrexham, but he wasn’t pleased with his side’s ability to pick up points in front of their own fans.

Two goals from Chez Isaac did the damage and consigned Sutton to a third consecutive loss.

They have the chance to put that right here, but it’s a difficult assignment as they face Tranmere, a side sitting 4th in the table.

Prior to the defeat, Sutton has put together a run of three wins here, seeing off Torquay, Macclesfield and Dagenham, with the latter two victories especially impressive.

Sutton have former Middlesbrough midfielder Nicky Bailey has netted three spot-kicks this season and adds some much needed experience in the centre of the park.

Doswell this week said his side ‘must stick together’ and ‘keep fighting’. He blamed individual errors for recent defeats. There’s no room for error when Tranmere visit Green Gander Lane on Saturday.

They’ve already faced a lot of former league sides in the shape of Lincoln, Macclesfield and Dagenham so they won’t be fazed when the Wirrall side roll into town.

They need to bounce back here and will be looking to continue their impressive early season home form

Tranmere were the early pace-setters, but they’ve just dropped away a little. Failure to score in two consecutive matches hasn’t helped matters and they’ll be looking to make amends here.

They recently tasted defeat on the road for the first time since November 2015 when they were defeated 3-1 at Aldershot. They’ve failed to win in three away matches and it’s a real concern for Gary Brabin.

This won’t necessarily be easy for them. They could struggle to get out of the rut here.

Sutton play on an artificial pitch and that could cause problems for Tranmere here. They won’t be used to this surface and It could take them a while to adapt. Brabin insisted his players will adapt and he didn’t want to be using it as an excuse when the final whistle blows.

Jeff Hughes is serving a suspension and will be missing for this fixture.

Considering Tranmere were down to 10 men at York, they did well to hold on to a point. But, they need to start winning again soon.

Despite being 5th, Tranmere have the meanest defence in the league, conceding just 7 goals all season. Five of them have been in the last five games though and they’ve only netted three times during that period too.

If this fixture had been played in August, I would have been backing an away win, but Tranmere don’t have the form to merit confidence and Sutton’s 3G pitch could cause them issues.

Sutton United vs Tranmere Predictions

I can’t have too much confidence in the away side here. Despite their decent start to the campaign, they have suffered of late and are missing Jeff Hughes here. Sutton have decent home form and were poor against Braintree, but could get something here so my first Sutton United vs Tranmere betting tip is for the match to end a draw and the best odds are 12/5 with bet365.

Both Teams to Score Tips

Tranmere still statistically have the best defence in the division, but the way they conceded against Aldershot suggests they might not keep a clean sheet here. Sutton have netted in every home game this season and I can’t see any reason for them to stop now so get on both teams to score for my second Sutton United vs Tranmere prediction.
