Swansea City vs Cambridge Match Preview

Swansea have made a wonderful start to life in the Championship this season with Steve Cooper’s men riding high in the table. They were at their decisive best once again on Sunday afternoon as they hit three past Birmingham in the South Wales sunshine. The Swans have now scored three goals in each of their last four matches, and they swept past League Two Northampton in the previous round of the competition. Keeping hold of Borja Baston will be crucial this season, and the striker may be rested for this tie. The classy George Byers has been excellent so far, whilst Matt Grimes and Jay Fulton have also played key roles in this campaign. Cooper is likely to give Sam Surridge a game in this one, whilst the excellent Yann Dhanda should also feature once again. The fans are really enjoying watching their side at the moment, and they can expect another swashbuckling show on Wednesday night. At the back, they have plenty of options with the experienced Kyle Naughton and Jake Bidwell both playing pivotal roles so far.

Cambridge have made a decent start to the season, but Colin Calderwood’s side slipped up at the weekend to lowly Oldham. It came off the back of three consecutive victories in all competitions, and that includes a penalty shoot-out victory over Brentford in the previous round of the competition. The U’s lacked firepower in their squad, but the arrival of Marc Richards does add some much needed potency to the squad, although the 37-year old won’t feature in every game. After two consecutive goalless draws to open the campaign, they’ve since conceded in every match since then. Calderwood’s side probably benefitted from a much-changed Brentford side in the previous round, and they may struggle to contain this lively Swansea outfit.

Swansea vs Cambridge Betting Tips

Swansea will be expected to win this one, and their odds-on price reflects this. However, the price can be increased by chucking in Over 2.5 Goals. Cambridge haven’t neglected their defensive duties lately, but they have looked a little more open, and conceding twice to Oldham doesn’t bode well for this one. They were the better side in that League Two clash, but they switched off twice, and paid the price. Calderwood’s men may even find the back of the net themselves, which should set up a fascinating contest.

The aforementioned Sam Surridge should be given a run-out in this game, and he’s played well at League Two previously. The striker has an eye for goal, and is already off the mark for the campaign. He could be the best option in the anytime goalscorer market. He’s 6/5 with Bet365.
