Super Sunday returns to the television screens this weekend, and first up is the mid-table clash between Swansea and Liverpool as Brendan Rodgers takes his Reds side back to his old stomping ground in South Wales.
Liverpool start as 11/10 favourites to win the match, Swansea can be backed at 12/5, whilst the draw is available at 5/2. All prices quoted are available with bet365.
Swansea’s season has been something of a mixed bag. They started with bang followed by a bit of a slump, however in recent games Michael Laudrup has steadied the ship to a position where they have suffered only one league defeat in their last six matches. A 2-1 away victory at Newcastle last weekend will give the Welsh side every confidence that they can put one over their old boss at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool are now unbeaten in seven league matches and will view this as a great opportunity to bag three points away from home. However the recent trend in Liverpool’s away matches is that they tend to a collect just the one point rather than three. In the Reds’ last five away league matches, three have been drawn. Interestingly Liverpool are yet to keep a clean sheet on their league travels this season.
Between 1983 and 2011 these clubs did not meet each other on the football field, however in the three meetings since last year Liverpool have not managed to record a win. Despite Liverpool being priced at odds against I am not convinced it rates as a value bet away from home, especially with their defensive record. Instead I would prefer to back Swansea to get something from this match, and the way to play this one is to back Swansea to win in the draw no bet market at 6/4 with Bet365. The percentages indicate goals will be scored in the match given Swansea have seen at least three goals in five of their last six league matches, whilst the same statistic is true of three of Liverpools’s last five away league matches. Get on over 2.5 goals at 3/4 as this looks as a safe play as you’re likely to find this weekend.
