Ukraine vs Serbia predictions and betting tips for the Euro 2020 qualifying fixture on Friday 6th June 2019. This is one of the tougher groups in Euro 2020 qualifying with Portugal also taking part, however both sides have already drawn with the Nations League semi-finalists.
Ukraine to win – 13/8
Draw – 15/8
Serbia to win – 2/1
Kick-off time: 7.45pm
Date: Friday 7th June 2019
Competition: Euro 2020 qualifying
Venue: Arena L’viv (L’viv)
This is a massive match for both of these sides – Ukraine can move onto seven points having already played their toughest game of the group away at Portugal, and Serbia can get themselves onto four points having only played one game so far, a creditable draw away in Portugal. These sides look quite well matched on paper, however Ukraine need to be wary following their close shave against Luxembourg, where they fell behind and almost didn’t win the game. Serbia are on a good run of form at the moment and they’ll want to get themselves in the mix for qualification with a win here.
In their last Euro 2020 qualifier, Ukraine fell behind in Luxembourg before being rescued by a 93rd minute own goal. Luxembourg are an improving nation but there is now way they should be troubling Ukraine and that will be a big concern for manager Andriy Shevchenko. His side did manage a 0-0 draw in Portugal which was a good result to get their qualifying campaign underway.
There are sme big names missing from the Ukraine squad for this match including West Ham’s Andriy Yarmolenko who has been out injured for the majority of the season. He is a big miss for Shevchenko as he provides both goals and creative threat. Other names not in the squad include Denys Boyko, Artem Shabanov, Serhiy Sydorchuk, Ivan Petryak and Serhiy Bolbat though either injury or not being selected.
The Serbs come into this match in a great run of form and they’ll be looking to pick up another positive result in Ukraine. They have not lost since the World Cup and were impressive in the Nations League, winning four and drawing two of their matches.
Dusan Tadic enjoyed a brilliant season domestically for Ajax, helping them to the Dutch title and the Champions League semi-finals. He also scored in the 1-1 draw with Portugal in their opening Euro 2020 qualifying match. Alexsandar Mitrovic will lead the Serbia line after enjoying a good season with Newcastle.
We’re not predicting many goals in this game, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take a chance on an anytime goalscorer betting tip. There are some decent players for each time, with Yevhen Konoplyanka the stand-out player in the Ukraine side, he’s got 19 international goals to his name from midfield. Dusan Tadic will be a popular choice from the Serbian players but we’re going with Mitrovic here. He’s got a great goalscoring record for his country, netting 23 goals in 47 caps and is 2/1 with bet365 to get on the scoresheet in Ukraine this week.
Bet £10 on Mitrovic to score to win £30.
It looks hard to split these two teams so the Ukraine vs Serbia prediction we are going for is a draw. Serbia have drawn their previous two matches and Ukraine have drawn half of their last six games. Under 2.5 goals would be the best selection if you’re looking to bet on an over/under 2.5 goals accumulator tip this weekend, but the odds are too short for a single bet. A draw would be a good selection for a win draw win accumulator even though the odds are short, and it is worth noting that Serbia haven’t won any of the four meetings between these sides.
