Vancouver Whitecaps vs San Jose Earthquakes Preview
It’s been a season to forget so far for the Caps. Marc Dos Santos’ men have been shipping goals left, right and centre, and their 4-0 defeat in midweek will have further dented their confidence. It’s an awfully quite turnaround for the Canadian outfit, who return from New England to face SJ Earthquakes at BC Place. The Whitecaps will play a game every 3.5 days (on average) over the next few weeks, and the games are beginning to stack up. They’ve conceded at least three goals in their last three matches, and that is something they need to rectify. They are unlikely to have had time to put that right ahead of this fixture.
San Jose Earthquakes weren’t in competitive action this midweek, and come off the back of a confidence-boosting victory in the Cali Classic. It was a tremendous away victory, and they’ve been looking extend their unbeaten run here. Their only recent defeat came to an in-form Minnesota, and they will be confident of leaving Canada with all of the points. They have a poor record against this opposition, having won just one of the last 11 meetings, but on current form, they will be predicted by many to come out on top here.
Vancouver Whitecaps vs San Jose Earthquakes Betting Tips
Away victories are always attractively priced in the MLS as there is a definite bias towards home teams. However, SJ Earthquakes look a very good bet at around 2/1 here. They recently won at the StubHub Arena, and they were also victorious on their latest visit to Canada (at BMO Field). They’ve lost just one of their last four away games, and they should be able to take advantage of their fragile opponents.
It’s been eight games since the Whitecaps were last victorious, and therefore look unbackable here. Over 2.5 Goals is available at 4/7, and is worthy of being placed in an accumulator, however the hosts have failed to find the net in their last three games, so avoiding BTTS might be sensible.
Combining the two markets might be a good option here, and it’s 21/10 for San Jose Earthquakes to Win with Over 2.5 Goals in the game. The best price is currently available with Betfair.
