West Ham vs Wolves Predictions

 

The Hammers are in good form at the moment. They're unbeaten in seven, winning the last two, and with key players coming back from injury they'll be looking to consolidate their sixth position in the table with the aim of finishing in one of the European spots come the end of the season.

 

Wolves have done well of late too. They sit in 11 in the Championship, seven points behind a play-off place having won the last three including a great win away at Brighton last time out. The Wolves defence came under fire earlier this season but they didn't concede in any of those games over the Festive period. For my football predictions I think that run of clean sheets will come to an end here but this game will be a lot closer than people expect.

 

I don't think either side will rest many players for this one, despite busy Christmas schedules and having games three days after this. For West Ham in particular, the FA Cup presents a great chance for some silverware and I think they'll start with a pretty strong side. Winston Reid and Victor Moses might come in as they need game time after injury and Dimitri Payet could make his first start after injury after his sub appearance in the win over Liverpool. Pedro Obiang might also start as he's impressed after coming off the bench in the last two matches.

 

As for Kenny Jacketts' men, Jordan Graham is 50/50 after coming off injured in that win at the Amex but other than him Wolves don't have any new injury concerns. For the Wolves starting line-up I think Wolves will continue to play Benik Afobe up front on his own in this one. He's been playing as a lone striker in recent matches as Wolves looked to consolidate their defence so chances have been few and far between. However, he is capable of causing problems for any defence. He's been subject of transfer speculation this month with numerous Premier League sides rumoured to be interested in him and it's easy to see why.  He can score and create chances for others too, he may not have scored in those three recent wins but he has scored 10 this season and he's the away side's best chance for getting a goal in this one. Afobe is the subject of my first bet, get on the Wolves man to score anytime.
