Wolves vs Manchester United Preview

Manchester United started the season in fine form dispatching of Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford. Chelsea had the better of the opening exchanges, hitting the post through Tammy Abraham. United grew into the game and were clinical when presented with opportunities in the second half. Quick transitions piercing through Chelsea’s high defensive line were a staple of the match.

Wolves kicked off their league campaign with a goalless draw away at Leicester. Wolves could perhaps feel aggrieved not to have taken more from the match, having had a goal ruled out by VAR. Leander Dendoncker struck from a corner but had his goal chalked off due to an inadvertent handball from teammate Willy Boly. Wolves were wasteful in front of goal with Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota each missing good opportunities.

Wolves vs Manchester United Betting Tips

Wolves were unbeaten against The Red Devils in three encounters last season. They beat United 2-1 in both matches at the Molineux, with Diogo Jota scoring in each. Backing Jota to score once more looks good value at 11/4.

Despite the emphatic scoreline, United conceded several opportunities to Chelsea, who were far from clinical in front of goal. If Wolves can improve from their own wastefulness, they could well take advantage. A midweek Europa League game shouldn’t cause Wolves too much trouble. Having already established a 4-0 aggregate lead away, Nuno Espirito Santo can afford to rotate players if he feels fatigue could be an issue.

Both teams scored in each of their three meetings last season and with United’s impressive scoring form against Chelsea, we expect a repeat. The Red Devils may have more limited chances on the counterattack with a deeper Wolves defensive line but nonetheless, we’re backing both teams to score at 4/5 to complete our Premier League betting tips for today’s Monday Night Football.
