When Will Pep Guardiola Leave Manchester City and Who will be his Next Club?

Man City starting 11

Guardiola has repeatedly outlined his intentions to remain with Manchester City for the upcoming Premier League season. Despite this, rumours persist concerning his imminent departure.

Manchester City appear to be reaching a crossroads. Their title defence was incredibly feeble and long-time servants such as David Silva, Fernandinho and eventually Sergio Aguero are set to follow the likes of Vincent Kompany out the door.

During this transition period, there’s every chance that Guardiola will move on…but where next? We look at the betting odds for Pep Guardiola’s next club.

Juventus – 4/7

Guardiola is yet to manage in Italy but Juventus would certainly match his ambitions. It’s no secret that Juventus are desperate to win the Champions League, having spent big to acquire Ronaldo. Time is running out (you’d think) to capitalise on the Portuguese talisman’s talents so a move for a world class manager like Guardiola would make a lot of sense.

Barcelona – 5/1

The bookies have a return to the Nou Camp as Guardiola’s next most likely destination. Obviously, the Spaniard has a strong affinity towards his boyhood club and will have fond memories of his time in charge. His first stint at the helm brought about one of the club’s most successful eras but a lot has changed since then. Is this a project that would excite Guardiola?

PSG – 6/1

Much like Manchester City, PSG have cash to burn and are intent on carving out a new era of domination. Domestically, PSG have things under control with a firm grip over Ligue 1. Like Juventus, the challenge is European glory but with an even less competitive domestic league. The Parisians haven’t had the most patient of approaches when it comes to managers but they would surely give Guardiola a fair crack if he was interested.

Bayern Munich – 10/1

A less likely return for Guardiola would be to Bayern. The Catalan boss has potentially unfinished business in Bavaria, having infamously failed to win the Champions League during his three-year stint. However, having dominated most other competitions during this period, a return seems rather unlikely.

Manchester United – 33/1

This is would be a great way to burn your bridges at Manchester City. It’s not unheard of for managers to leave for rivals clubs, but it’s hardly on the cards either. Guardiola has spent the last few years building Manchester City to a level where they can comfortably call themselves the best club in Manchester. It would be a strange move to jump ship to United.

Inter Miami – 50/1

Now here’s a project. David Beckham’s newest MLS franchise have been linked with a whole host of superstar names and few come bigger than Pep Guardiola. Even so, this is surely not the right move at this point of his managerial career and there is little chance he leaves Europe so soon.
