Burnley vs Sheffield United Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Burnley and Sheffield United are both in the top half, separated by just two points at the time fo writing.

Burnley are currently tenth having picked up back-to-back victories. Sheffield United got back to winning ways against Spurs to lift them to seventh.

It’s a tough one to call with two very well matched sides on paper. Both clubs have injury headaches with key players expected to be out so a low scoring draw could be the best bet. The odds for a 0-0 scoreline are 11/2 and under 1.5 goals looks to be one of the bets of the day at odds of 6/4.

A tight game with not much in it looks on the cards.

Burnley Form

Burnley made it two wins in two after another 1-0 victory, this time over Crystal Palace. The Clarets have only lost one of their last ten league games and have kept six clean sheets in that period. Nick Pope is now leading the race for the golden glove.

Despite key attacking injuries, Burnley have coped admirably since the restart. They have picked up seven points from a reasonably tough set of opening fixtures.

Burnley have struggled for goals this the season with just 36 in 32. This pattern has continued in recent matches with just three in their last five games.

Home Team News

Burnley have eight first-team players currently out injured. Included in that list are Barnes, Wood, Gudmundsson, and Cork.

Sheffield United Form

Sheffield United hadn’t quite got going since the restart but an emphatic 3-1 win over Tottenham has gone some way to putting that right. The Blades had taken just one point from their opening three games, failing to score in any. Chris Wilder’s side lost 3-0 in back-to-back league games as well as suffering a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup Quarter Final.

However, their much-improved display at home to Spurs suggests the Blades can still clinch an unlikely European spot.

Sheffield United beat Burnley 3-0 in the reverse fixture, their biggest win of the season. John Lundstram (x2) and John Fleck were the scorers on that day.

Away Team News

Fleck and Lundstram are expected to miss this encounter with Jack O’Connell touch and go.
