Everton vs Liverpool predictions and betting tips for the Merseyside Derby on Sunday 3rd March. Can Everton put a huge dent in Liverpool’s title challenge at Goodison Park this weekend? See our predictions and betting tips below.
There will be no need for Marco Silva to get his players up for this match, the Goodison Park faithful will be right behind their side as they run out to play Liverpool this weekend, who are at the business end of their title challenge. The Blue half of Merseyside would love nothing more than to dent their rivals title challenge and following their 3-0 win against Cardiff on Tuesday, Everton come into the match in good spirit following a run of previously terrible results.
Liverpool put up an even better performance as they themselves got back to winning ways in midweek, with a 5-0 thrashing of Watford at Anfield. Last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Old Trafford was a really poor performance from Jurgen Klopp’s men, but it was a welcome clean sheet. Recently Liverpool have conceded against West Ham and Leicester and we’re expecting them to do the same here, while scoring themselves. Everton have only kept one clean sheet in their last seven at Goodison Park, scoring in five of those.
It remains to be see whether Roberto Firmino is back in the starting line-up for this game after he missed the 5-0 win over Watford with an injury, but one man who is back in form in front of goal is Saido Mane. He played quite a central role in that match and scored two goals, so we’re predicting he’ll score again here. It was Mane who got the vital goal at Goodison Park two years ago, scoring in stoppage time to beat Everton 1-0.
From an Everton point of view, Richarlison would be the obvious choice but he has gone off the boil of late, and Gylfi Sigurdsson scored twice against Cardiff to take his tally to double figures for the season, so the set-piece taker would be an interesting prospect at odds of 41/10 with Unibet. However, for the second Everton vs Liverpool prediction, we’re going with Saido Mane to score anytime.
Liverpool could only manage draws in their last two away matches against West Ham and Manchester United and Jurgen Klopp knows this will not be any easier. The Everton fans will be right up for the match and be looking to get the old intimidating atmosphere back to Goodison Park. However, just one home win in seven is a real concern for Marco Silva’s men and they might just fall short against a Liverpool side who will be looking to continue their dominance in Merseyside derbies.
The last of our Everton vs Liverpool predictions is for Liverpool to win 2-1 and the best odds for this are 8/1 at bet365, who are the best odds bookmaker for all three of our betting tips on the match.
